Gange and Tanguay are pretty much on the same level and seeing how Iginla and Gagne have already shown chemistry in the olympics, you guys think maybe Sutter should presued Gagne instead?

It'd probably take more then Leopold though seeing how Clarke wouldn't let him self get fleeced as bad as the Avs gm.

The Avs didnt get fleeced... they got a top 2 defenseman as well as two 2nd round picks... if anything the Avs actually won the trade

I don't know, I like that Tanguay is a playmaker as apposed to a goal scorer though, aside from money that is the main reason I would prefer him to Gagne.

I Don't know if the Avs "won", but I wouldn't say they lost. I would say Calgary lost, if they didn't have a good core of players in Phaneuf, Hamrlik, Regher already. They gave up less then what they got I'd say.

Yeah, I can't see the Flames losing anything really. They have a lot of skill on defence. Tanguay will bring a top talent to the front ranks. Leo may develop into a top talent, and I don't think Colorado will regret bringing him in. The trade looks win/win to me, which is what good trades really should be.

He's an RFA, it would cost us like 4 first round draft picks to get him.

Tanguay is a better passer than Gagne, and with him on that line with Jiggy, you'll see both players stats fly up. you'd want a better passer for Jarome instead of that pure goal scorer like Gagne IMO.

Not to mention he's actually a threat in the shoot-out. Something we didn't have last year.

Yup, that's very important. Without Satan on the Isles, we wouldn't of even reached 30 wins last year; It definitely helps alot.

You won't get Gagne for Leopold and two 2nds.

Also, from an outsiders perspective (A guy who hates both the Flames and the Avs equally), Calgary destroyed Colorado in that trade.

I agree with what has already been said, Gagne isn't available for Leopold plus a 2nd and a conditional pick.

What I was surprised to read was a few people saying that Colorado "won" the trade. While I think it is way too early to officially determine the winners and losers of the Draft Day trade, my early feeling is that the Flames by far got the best of that deal. I guess I just don't see as much value in Leopold as some others.

i really dont think calgary "destroyed" colorado in that trade, anyone who says so, knows nothing about how solid of a defenceman leopold is.

i would think it would take more then that still to get gagne. gagne to some probably seems more valueable cause he scores more goals, playing with forsberg iam sure inflates his numbers, but still. i think gagne would have been an upgrade to tanguay.

who here would trade tanguay for gagne straight up?? (if they both came for the same price). i would have a tough time saying i wouldnt. dont get me wrong though, i still love the tanguay trade and cant wait till october 5th
