Boston has to do something after failing to acquire Morrow and Iginla.

I can see Washington, NY Rangers and Philly adding to try to secure a playoff spot. The caps really should be proactive, there's no excuse to not win that pathetic division.

It should be interesting to see what the Islanders do. I wouldn't mind trading Boyes and Streit if they can add a defensive defenseman. Boyes is awful, I want him off the team to be honest.

Most likely do nothing because they can always bring up Brock Nelson, Nino, or Donovan if they really wanted to.

Not being a prune, but what really else is left to buy?

Fleischmann is the only thing that may garner a bit of interest; same with Goc. Doubt they are any where near pricey.

Anything valuable under 25 shouldn't even be considered. It is really too bad that Versteeg, Weiss and Jovanovski went down.

I see the Habs doing a minor depth move, nothing overly significant.

Nothing wrong with what you're saying cause its true. None of the young guys are gonna be available, no one really wants any of the older players and there's not a huge market for the guys that may be available. Thats why the Panthers most likely wont be big sellers even where they are in the standings. They move one or 2 guys in minor moves but I dont even think Fleischmann is really available unless a team really overpays. I say they do nothing.

If all those guys didnt go down (or playing with) injuries, who knows where the Panthers would be right now and maybe they would've been buyers. All 3 guys were injured to start the season and shouldnt even have been trying to play. If anyone wants to take guys like Upshall or Kuba off our hands, I wouldnt mind seeing them traded

Who is selling?

So far we have the following selling teams:
-Dallas
-Calgary
-Buffalo
-San Jose

Which teams out of the playoffs will be selling?
-Colorado
-Florida
-Philadelphia
-Tampa
-Phoenix
-Columbus (unlikely)
-Edmonton (unlikely)
-Carolina
-Washington
-Nashville....

I am guessing Colorado and Florida will definitely try and dump any UFAs they have at over inflated prices.

Tampa as well might become a seller, beyond that I am guessing most other teams will think they still have a fighting chance to make the playoffs but Philly and Phoenix might call it a day when they realize with ~12 games left in the season they longshots to make it and might just go for the huge returns on deadline day

Carolina is a team that on paper looks like they in pretty decent shape(they have games in hand on everybody above them and if they win both their games in hand on Winnipeg they would lead the division going by tie breaker rules) but given Ward(I believe) is injured for a good chunk of the remainder of the season they might just throw in the white flag

Tomorrow is definitely going to be a sellers market

I didn't say the Sharks are 'sellers' I said they are one of the only teams selling... and it's not just Clowe. The Sharks also traded Murray and Handzus.

I don't think Carolina does anything huge, they're still on the bubble with some brutal injuries and ultimately don't really have much to sell off.

I think the Wild will kick some tires, but I don't think they are going to be major players today.

They have a goalie 'to help push them in'. His name is Braden Holtby. Trading for a vet would be just a distraction for him. For the first time in like 5 years, we have a clear-cut bona fide #1 goalie. Trading for some underachieving old guy to make him '#1.5' doesn't make sense. It'd be a terrible asset management and ruin the chemistry the Caps have. The Caps need LD/LW, but it will be guys with at least one year left on the deal. Also, I can see some of bodies on D shipped out - if anyone needs Poti, Schultz, they're available.

Caps have 13 healthy defensemen now and the problem is that only three of them are top-4 on the contending team. Getting a guy like Klesla or Sekera should be a #1 priority for GMGM.

On LW, I bet the Caps would be looking to put some guy who scores more than Brooks Laich as Ribeiro's LW. That'd complete our second line and make it respectable, FINALLY. Took us three years since Fedorov's departure to get there.
