1rst, Ramo (If we still had him) and Ellis.

Pretty much just a first.

We don't have the equivalent goaltending prospect that Calgary was looking for. They were looking to fill a specific need. If we still had Karri Ramo that's a different story.... Maybe Tokarski + Ellis + 1st?

Those two questions may be the biggest barrier to getting him than anything else.

With Bourque and Diaz coming back soon, we're adding top 6 player and top 4 defensman for nothing! Anything we can get outside the org for non essential assets is a bonus.
I don't see Pominville as a perfect fit, unless we get him relatively cheap. The perfect fit for us is more sandpaper for the playoffs, we have enough speed and skill, need to better surround them against big grinding teams.

Woah. I guess we know how to evaluate players.

Great minds...

That tweet is hardly ominous... Not sure if I'm excited or terrified.

Might as well just say Robert Mayer. For all that Berra really represents? Tokarski is younger and playing here, and doing great. And Cundari will have burned his waiver exemptions next year, where Ellis is still a 1st year pro. Cundari is closer to St.Denis than Ellis.

But I still wouldn't have wanted to give up our 1st in a package for JayBo... very good player and all, but at his contract level still not quite enough of a fit to our needs to put all that cap space on.

I can't believe Detroit couldn't have offered a 1st+<insert from their huge list of better prospects than what the Flames got>.

I'd rather have Clowe, and would love to have him signed. Bourque was miserable for us last year, seemed to have rebounded before his injury, and has a far worse track record for drive and consistency than Clowe. I'd like to have them both on our wings for the next few years, playing like they can. It's worth the gamble on Clowe bouncing back, because he represents something we need pretty badly.

I think a team like the Habs would have been willing to give up the first+ for Bouwmeester, but would have asked that Calgary retain salary or take a bad contract such as Kaberle in order to get the nice assets. Calgary could have done much better in those circumstances.

I see. Didn't we trade them Ramo?

Montreal is a well-managed team, even Gainey and Goat were professional, calm people who trusted their staff. No wonder when Montreal doesn't suffer injuries and has everything go their way that look "scary" - they're the anti-Flyers. Patient, methodical, great drafters.

Be afraid, we've had good organizational stability for years, it's the execution and results that are different now.

Absolutely we did. He's a very good goalie, just doesn't want to play in North America when he's got a starting job elsewhere.

Acquire Clowe and Pominville and a tough, big, defensive defenseman.

Michael Ryder - Tomas Plekanec - Jason Pominville
Max Pacioretty - David Desharnais - Brendan Gallagher
Ryane Clowe - Lars Eller - Brian Gionta
Travis Moen - Jeff Halpern - Brandon Prust

Subban - Gorges
Markov - The Defender we Trade For
Emelin - Bouillon

Galchenyuk gets the Seguin treatment.

Just trying to think of unrealistic different scenarios.

He was refering to Canadiens being able to play various styles, depending who they are facing as opposed to B's who seem to be able to play only certain (predictable) way.
