I like Bourque, size and skill are nice obviously, but in a deal like this I probably move Bourque but avoid it. Big guys with raw skill potential tend to figure it out and sometimes develop very nicely.

trade gabby and get a few key pieces, even if it means packaging mdz and get a right side d-man who can quaterback the powerplay, and good 2nd liner depth man, and 1 or 2 sparkplugs

having a ott or tootoo would do wonders for our depth, look what prust is doing for the habs and what he did for our depth last year
Have no idea if Tootoo is available but he would be one of those low-risk under the radar moves that is key.

The key to Glencross is to get him to waive his NTC.
I'm pretty sure anything other than Calgary looks pertty good right now.

Boyle looks better as a winger than a center, he's playing the boards a little better.

still belongs on the 4th line though.

I think he is being showcased, Pyatt may last here longer than Boyle.

Hope I am wrong.

Problem with trading Boyle is that the PK will suffer even more. is Torts gonna let Kreider and Miller PK?

Glenncross is cool as long as they don't give up anything higher than a 3rd.

I'm still down for Sami Salo even without my crazy Gaborik trade. Tampa would love to move a contract.

I think the realistic pieces in play for the Rangers are any of the third rounders they have this year and the 2nd tier prospects (Thomas, Borque, Jean, Hrivik, Yogan, Anderson, Stacjer, Missian, Spelling, McColgan, Noreau..even though I love the kid).

Boyle/Pyatt/Asham will try to be moved if it makes sense.

I would have to imagine Glenncross is going to command at least something in the same ball park as Clowe.

Rangers really aren't in a position to give all of that up.

I still say go with Jussi Jokinnen who played just under 21 minutes tonight. Can someone say showcase?

Jussi Jokinnen isn't going to do much of anything on the Rangers. He isn't physical enough to be useful in a bottom six role. Not with our system, and how are team is constructed.

Glenncross could make a difference to our bottom six.

But

Its not worth it for a steep price tag. I agree with that sentiment. Rangers may very well stay pat or go after a project like McBain.

Jokinnen can be an interchangeable piece on the second and 3rd line as either a center or winger and I'd much rather use him on a PP with his passing than Boyle

He can't be any less physical than a Richards/Gaborik/Zuc.

Do very little...

Say Boyle & Pyatt and some other pieces are dealt now at the deadline for pure rentals
One of Asham/Powe is dealt in the offseason
And we basically work with what is in the system resigning McD, Stepan, Hagelin and the Hobbit
Would this roster work?
A bit lightweight, but still with some serious bangers (Big Mac, Mashinter, Haley, maybe Stu as an extra spare) on the squad that also should be able put up some goals - no?
Skillwise it looks a bit like an old Red Wing lineup
the main thing IMO is to get guys like Gaborik, Richards, Kreider going offensively and to have Staal back on D
I think a coaching change - preferably both of the Neanderthals back there but start with axing Sullivan - is also totally necessary.

FORWARDS
Chris Kreider ($1.325m) or Mats Zuccarello ($1.200m) / Brad Richards ($6.667m) / Marian Gaborik ($7.500m)
Rick Nash ($7.800m) / Derek Stepan ($3.300m) / Ryan Callahan ($4.275m)
Carl Hagelin ($2.000m) / Oscar Lindberg ($0.760m) / Jesper Fasth ($0.900m)
Mats Zuccarello ($1.200m) or Chris Kreider ($1.325m) / J.T. Miller ($1.244m) / Micheal Haley ($0.600m)
One of Darroll Powe or Aron Asham (MAX $1.067m) / Brandon Mashinter or a hired UFA goon on the cheap (~$0.650m)

DEFENSEMEN
Ryan McDonagh ($4.200m) / Dan Girardi ($3.325m)
Marc Staal ($3.975m) / Anton Stralman ($1.700m)
Michael Del Zotto ($2.550m) / Dylan McIlrath ($1.295m)
VET UFA or Stu Bickel ($0.750m)

GOALTENDERS
Henrik Lundqvist ($6.875m)
Martin Biron ($1.300m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)

any chance they waive Gilroy today to potentially open up another slot?

I do think since they have a game tommorow they may made a deal today.

I really hope they are going for Steve Ott out of Buffallo. Offer up Boyle, Gilroy and 2 - 3rds.

Ideally, here is what I would like to see:

Pyatt for Jokinen

Bourque + 4th '13 for Torres

Boyle to Vancouver for a 2nd '14 + 4th '14

Powe + VAN 2nd '14 + NYR 3rd '13 for Glencross

New lines:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
MZA-Richards-Gaborik
Glencross-Jokinen-Callahan
Torres-Miller-Asham

I like the moves. If MZA can keep up his play and Jokinen can contribute that would be a solid line up. Just the Rangers need to add someone on D as well.

I'd expect them to maybe move Boyle, but more likely just add some depth defender who once-upon-a-time scored at a .5 PPG clip or something.

This team just can't pull the trigger on big time deadline moves. They'll wait it out and then turn over half the roster again in the summer.

The time to move Boyle was 2 years ago when his value was sky high. It's very low right now, I think he could fetch more in the summer or next season. He's not this bad.

It's not THAT low. Teams like players like Boyle with size and strength and the ability to help shut-down other teams top players. Especially out west where it is a bit more physical.

Torts would never allow them to get rid of Boyle. He plays too much important minutes under Torts, not that he deserves them.

I think we will make a minor move, either another bottom pair dman or a 3/4 liner.
