That's my opinion. Other people have different opinions as to what we should do with our 2nd rounders, and that's okay too. I'm not about to start beating people over the head until they see things my way though.
That's spits in the face of what HF Boards stand for! How are you even a mod!? :

That declaration right there convinced me that little green men from Mars really exist.

Only someone who was abducted by UFOs towards the end of Serge Savard's tenure and returned to earth just last May could make such a statement without an iota of sarcasm.

I wanted Talbot, before he got a season ending injury. Seeing as Diaz is still on the injured reserve list, definitely we should target a D, preferably a defensive-minded D that can help our penalty-kill. There really isn't much out there though, as most teams are battling for playoff spots (except 5-6 teams). The D's that will become UFA's at the end of the season, seriously, there's nothing that I like.

Well not to speak for anyone else, but off the top of my head, some reasonable arguments may be:

-The prices are too high for the quality of players available and we'd be better served for the future keeping those assets

-Our team keeps winning, so people feel confident that we can continue to do so without any major changes/additions necessary

-Our team isn't good enough/proven enough to go "all the way" so there's no point spending assets in a race you can't win

People, stop obsessing over Pominville. This guy HATES MTL and the CH. Yes, he's from Repentigny, but I know for a fact that we would not like to play here and that he did not like the team as an organisation in recent years.

Is that what MB is doing. Convincing Molson to get out of the liquor business and go into the shmata trade? And why do you need a hockey mind to make silk?

And as I've said every time his name is brought up, he has a FULL NMC.

He controls the process.

Good Lord. I'd bet 100$ it's us. And I'd pay 100$ to make sure it's not.

The only guys that could have helped and made a true impact... Leopold, Regher and Jbow would have cost way more then one 2nd

You clearly haven't a clue how terrible some other organizations in the NHL have been. Yes the Habs went through multiple GMs, coaches, bad trades, bad signings, bad results etc. But we've never had our team under the risk of being folded, bankruptcy, movement, or any arena issues whatsoever.

We haven't had GMs fired mid-season for a long long time, in terms of corporate structure that says a lot. We've had very, very educated/experienced/competent figures in management also and basically my point is that beyond on-ice results Montreal has been a model franchise. We didn't tank, we didn't threaten the city for a new arena, we never "gave away" tickets, we never demeaned our organization.

It goes beyond GM, it goes to the owner and the chairman/president and while ours are greedy and money-loving as hell, they're also very competent at their job. Compare with the Leafs who dicked around Pat Quinn, who hired ancient Fletcher and then let him go for Burke and then fired him before the season began - whose owners have moved around a bunch of times and now no one knows who really runs the team. Or Boston and how they had to revamp their back-office several times since the Jumbo Joe years.

But yeah, Montreal's been awful and I'm a ********* homer because Bob Gainey made a few bad signings

You're probably the people who think that Price should stop every puck and he's a bad goalie if he doesn't. Grow the hell up and look at the rest of the league, our organization and corporate structure is among the elites.

The cap is going down next year. After that, it's a big unknown.

They have a solid group of young d-men but up front they are very weak.

Morrow, a 1st and 2 2nds is not a drop in the bucket. 1st in this darft could be Zykov Gauthier or Petan for example.

I'm not saying they are doomed, but they did trade away a fair bit of value.
