He has had a very successful rookie season.
Anyone but Armstrong pretty much who sucks up all the offensive abilities of his line mates into a vacuum.

Oh god, such painful memories.

I was right in saying that the treatment he got on team USA would prepare him for what's coming in MTL though. Great job Housley!

You need to know things like this. Most guys on this board, (not me) know a hell of a lot.

AHL is a pro league that does not allow players under 20. So Juniors who are too good for CHL at 18 and 19 need to play NHL. It is a tough choice.

I am torn and did not totally agree with Gally starting in the NHL, but in the long run this will likely help him, as he's a top talent, has size, and will learn. There was a huge debate on this here, read up on it.

The additions of galchenyuk and gallagher are what made this team deep with 3 scoring lines.

Gally has been fine, especially when you consider that he didnt play hockey last season!

I'd still scratch him a game when Bourque comes back.

He just needs to see the game from a different perspective, all part of the process.

I remember when people would freak out over Subban being scratched and he'd always come back a better player after it

This is wrong. AHL allows anyone over 18. Its an agreement the CHL has with the NHL that any player drafted from the CHL cannot play in the AHL until the season they turn 20 (except those that fall under the "Spezza rule").

Is it me or he slowed down considerably since they put him back to LW?

Not just you.

He just isn't a LW. It doesn't help that he's centered by Andrei Kostitsyn 2.0, though.

I wonder what a Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Ryder line could produce. Would it hurt to try? He and Eller have shown flashes together, but maybe it's time to separate them in hopes that they get going with different linemates.

I would scratch him a game or two just to give him some rest. He's young and this is a grinding season. Just looks a bit tired. I'm happy with his performance though.

I suspect he will be used as a 4th liner or he will be a healthy scratch in the playoffs. He is doing fine for a player of his age but will have to take a backseat to the big boys when the playoffs begin.

He should really play with Gallagher again, that's when he was at his best... but looks like MT doesn't want to touch at the DD line...

I'd give him a full week off if he doesn't play better in this back-to-back coming up.

Like I wrote in the trade thread, he's about to play 10 times more games this year between the OHL+WJC+NHL than he did last year. I believe he's at 75 games played this year after playing 8 last year.

Not only that, but I don't think he's missed an optional practice, morning skate or practice yet since he's been up here either. Fatigue has to be a factor right now.

He seems to be a bit overwhelmed by the pace. He has the tendency to slow down play while deking and it let all the time in the world for the defenseman and forward to "lock him up". I think he coulf become deadly on the PP with more time and space. I think he will dominate one day but there are still some work to do. Especially in 1 on 1 situation.

Galchenyuk is a good center. Not a good winger.

I think so too, he seems to rely too much on his stick handling and he should be more basic, less hands and more feet.

He can play wing fine, natural C yes but still is quite capable of playing LW. He's 19, someone pointed out he's playing 7x more games. He needs a rest and scratched for a couple games to sort him out. He doesn't seem to be as confident out there the last couple and is making very safe plays, which isn't a bad thing but he's a much more of cerebral player then what he's showcasing atm.

Exactly. The Rangers' J.T. Miller is another example of a 19 year old that fell through a loophole and played in the AHL this year before joining the Rangers after the lockout ended. Miller did not sign his OHL contract with the Plymouth Whalers until after he was drafted in the 1st round by New York, backing out of his NCAA letter of intent. He played for Plymouth last season, then moved on to the AHL this year.

Could Chuckie technically be sent down to the AHL at this point in time, or is it impossible because he still has CHL eligiblity?
