Told the Dallas Stars have decided to trade Jaromir Jagr. My sense is Boston leads the list of front-runners

I don't know that there is much in the way of an impact winger available on the market this year. Maybe Filppula? Going to be a tough market to improve the team that way. That's why our current dearth of FWD prospects is rather alarming. Trades might be in order to rectify that, but Lou will need to be creative as well as probably wait until the off-season.

I don't get your point.

At the time, he was on fire and the season was getting underway. Today, he's coasting like we're in 1st with a 17 point lead on 2nd place.

He isn't worth a dime over 4M$ per, he's not a top #6 forward and when you're paying your 3rd line RW'er 4M$+ per, then we'll have another case of the Madden/Pandolfo/Rolston/Volchenkov on our hands... a high priced player player bottom pairing minutes.

What's wrong with selling when the stock is at it's highest for a player we might lose for free this summer, AGAIN.

Clarkson is a top six forward. The issue is that he's being asked to fulfill the role of a first line winger right now.

I would make an offer if I was Lou. I wonder what Dallas is asking for, though.

Jagr is a solid player, but I wouldn't give away assets for a veteran like him cause he's not the missing link for us to compete with the Bruins and Pens.

We moved several picks for two average players who aren't doing much to help our team out. The last thing we need to do IMO, is give away more future.

Here you go Lou I figures it out for you two options

Trade clarkson to Toronto for a 1st. Then trade the 1st + for Yandle or a top line guy
Or
Trade clarkson to Toronto for a 2nd. Then trade the 2nd for Jagr

If you think Jagr's only going for a second, you haven't paid attention the last week, or any other deadline. Especially with Chiraelli willing to give up his first born at this point after getting snubbed by everyone else.

True. But. They said he is going to be traded. So if you are a team and want to give up a det for Jagr then that's on then. Aka Boston. But sure devils could throw in a prospect an that realistically should be enough for him. If the devils are in fact on his list.

i could see us claiming Santorelli, even though we've passed on him in the past. seems like waivers might be the best way to improve the team right now

That's a sad sad statement right there.

That's a low return for a 2nd line center... well, depending who the prospect is but if it's in the range of the prospects Feaster is landing in Calgary, it's a solid move for the Canucks.

Random people are starting to say that a Czech source says Jagr to Bruins. Obviously I don't believe it until I see a source.

Because he was our only source of offense at the time. Fast forward to today and he's been the complete opposite.

He was our best player at the time, when we looked liked a contender, wich isn't the case today. We look like a bubble team who can't score wich doesn't look too promising when taken into consideration that when we do score, we can't keep the lead to save our lives.

Move Clarkson, profit, think ahead cause we got some rainy days on the horizon mostly cause our veterans, who are the backbone to this team, are a couple of years away from retirement and the pipeline is close to bone dry.
