The Count....?

Okay, first off I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I sure did. I've been off line for a couple of days and I need to know the origin of the Count....

I've read there are others who want to know as well. Thanks... It's kinda catchy though....

LOL, I have no idea where it came from but I can relate to you. During the summer I went on vaction for a few weeks and didn't check out this board at all and when I came back everyone on here was talking about Poutine. Someone ended up telling me what it meant though because I eventually just had to ask because someone would always refer to it in one of thier posts.

It seems like if you miss sometime on this board, you'll miss out on the latest terms going around here.

On another note I hope eveyone here got some Poutine for Christmas

I think if you look at "the count" from sesame street and at patrice bergeron.. you might see some similarity in appearance, aside from the purple skin that is. i do not believe, however, that Patrice can count nearly as well as the Count nor can the Count see the ice as well as Patrice.

i searched for a good pic of patrice in his hockey helmet, which is i thenk where he looks the most like his namesake... no luck so far, if any could include one that would be great....

The Count

If The Count ever starts wearing a monocle and a goatee, we're in trouble. What would DC say about soft players wearing monocles?

One, ONE Calder Trophy, Ah, AH, Ah!!! (cue lightning)

I would HATE to see "The Count" in a monocle unless he wore it instead of the visor. I think that if you're going to hit and play a chippy style then you have to be prepared to defend yourself from time to time. A visor, to me, says "I will not back up my actions by dropping the gloves".

Also, when I first called him "The Count" I didn't mean it as an insult. It's just that he kind of looks like my favorite Sesame Street actor. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Yes, it's both the brows and the nose. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

You were and just about all my hockey buds love it; thats not an insult at all either. Bergeron's a good looking kid both on and off the ice (and I mean that in a hetero way) but he does remind me of the Count also. And as someone who has seen his fair share of Sesame Street I love the Count.

The Count

Bergeron's similarities with The Count:
1.) Eyebrows
2.) Ears
3.) Nose
4.) Droopy eyes
5.) Monocle-Faceshield
6.) They both sport black (and sometimes black and gold)
7.) The Count is the ONLY SS character that is never gullible, like PB
8.) The Count is always on his toes, like PB
9.) The Count has a maniacal dedication to his pastime, like PB
10.) The Count firmly believes that practice makes perfect
11.) Both are upstaged by the lazy, whiny Big Bird
12.) Both grew up fans of the Quebec Nordiques
13.) PB went 45th in the second round...The Count was introduced in the second full season of SS, both had great rookie seasons.
14.) The Count lives in a castle on a mountain, Patrice lives in the cliffside Maison Lapointe Estates in Topsfield.
15.) Both are accompanied by organ music whenever they play.

Btw, if Patrice is the Count, then Zamuner is Grover, right?

That is hilarious Wicked!!!

Especially the Big Bird part. How true. I take it DC started it and I am happy to "make it so". The Count it is.
