Question: should Wade Redden be sweating?
Considering that Wade Redden was a healthy scratch with Jordan Leopold in the lineup, I would say yes.

The Blues d pairings last night were:

Jackman-Pietrangelo
Leopold-Shattenkirk
Russell-Polak

One would assume it would look like this going forward:

Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo (longest pairing to type ever? lol)
Jackman-Shattenkirk
Leopold-Polak

with Russell as the 7th d man going forward.

I'm on record for not being a JayBo fan. Time will tell on if he plays well here in St. Louis for myself to change my mind, he's never lead Florida or Calgary to the playoffs 10 years in the NHL now. Maybe a change of scenery will be good, but we have heard that before. Good thing for poor spellers to shorten the 1st pairing of Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo to JayBo & Pie or for me it's AP27

Armstrong fleeced Feaster for 2 suspect prospects who would have never played for the Blues. The 1st is conditional on the Blues making the Playoffs in May for it to be a 2013 1st rounder in a deep draft they say, or it becomes a 2014 1st rounder instead.

I'd be shocked if Feaster is still GM of the Flames before the 2013 Entry draft myself.

Hell, Hiller was an exception, and looked like a long shot himself, and he was 24 when he left!

This guy basically is what he is...not many players get significantly better at his age, and he needs to, to ever even sniff the show.
I think that first you are underestimating the swiss league, the level is not so different of the SEL at least for the top 8 teams (mostly because the best swedish talents are playing in the NHL and a lot of their young players are already abroad in the farm teams).

So he can develop in good work conditions, in a league that's still quite competitive, with a much better salary than in AHL for example and he has a "star" status he wouldn't have abroad. I think these are quite enough reasons why swiss players in general prefer to wait for the good shot to join the NHL instead of rushing in the farm system risking to never make it in the big league.

I am not saying that Berra is assured of being the next Vesina winner, just that he has the talent to do something at NHL level. It could be a long shot like Stephan (who ended his NHL carrer with 10 poor games for the Stars) or a success like Hiller, but I think it's worth trying.

Completely agree. He must of let his 2012 GM of the year award go to his head... It's obvious that Doug Armstrong should check out HFBoards.com for true expert analysis.

I didn't read all of the posts, but does this mean that the Blues would be open to the idea of trading Shattenkirk as a pending RFA?

Not even a little bit. Armstrong has made multiple comments about our defensive core going into the future. We will be led by Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, and Shattenkirk with players like Jackman and Polak providing great roles as well was pretty much what he said.

That's what I figured and more so just wishful thinking that it would be a possibility, and the Flyers making a push for him.

Perron or Berglund with Cole could be had for something around Courturier or Schenn.

The big thing here is that he doesn't need to on the Blues. He can just play a conservative game with Pietrangelo, continue to eat up minutes and he becomes a massive improvement to the Blues D. He won't be expected to be the guy, he'll be the complementary piece that can cover for Petro and be covered by him. He'll have much more time and space on the Blues top pairing.

According to Swiss newspaper 20Minuten he signed a one-year, two-way deal worth 925'000$ in the NHL

The possiblities of opening up the transition game sounds great to me.

Still a bit sore as a Flames fan but that Blues d is looking nice. I think Jbo will do really well there as Pet will be the centre of attention... Jbo just needs to eat up minutes.

Our transition game should be even better than last season which was a major reason for our success. We have been dumping it in way too much.

Will his visas clear in time for him to play on Thursday? Or wil he not suit up until Friday?

Most reporters said he should land in Chicago to play Thursday.

After watching J-Bo come back to Florida the other night, the guy is playing better than I've ever seen him play.. I never saw him move the puck the way he did on the PP like he was. There is no question who won this deal.
