This trade was suggested by a couple of CBJ fans. I'm curious to see how some others feel about it.

Brassard + 2013 1st (LA) for Burmistrov + 2013 2nd

I would add something like Klingberg if the deal needed tweaking.

I like Burmistrov, and he would be a fit here, but this doesn't make sense. If we trade Brassard we either need sufficient futures coming back or we need to add to him to gain offensive prowess. Maybe if the picks were switched, but I'm not sure if there's a fit.

Just for clarity it was a CBJ fan that originally posted this elsewhere.

I'll chime in, since I suggested it originally.

It was "a 1st" from Columbus, not the CBJ 1st. Los Angeles' pick would be the most likely one, as it'll probably fall sometime after #20.

Winnipeg replaces Burmistrov's spot with a scoring forward and moves up a full round. Columbus adds another similar piece to the current core: a smart young player who's defensively and physically responsible, and whose offense may come around sooner or later. Brassard has another year on his contract at $3.2 mil and will still be RFA-eligible when it ends.

I'd hate to give up a 1st rounder like that, but a trade for Burmistrov makes sense. Brassard played well under Claude Nol. Russians are thriving in Columbus now with Tyutin, Bob, Anisimov and Nikitin.

Klingberg would fit nicely with the Jackets style of play - a hardworking forward with size and skill. But Winnipeg probably needs to keep him, especially moving to the Western Conference next season.

What does Winnipeg need? The Jackets have some defensive prospects that could be tossed in. Hopefully Clitsome is okay after his eye injury but if there's a need for defensemen, maybe Savard would work.

Wouldn't be interested unless it was the CBJ or NYR pick and even then, I'd like to think we could get a better return for Burmi.

Scoring RW or a setup guy for Kane
offensive LHD
LHD prospects
draft picks
size

Don't need:

LW
RHD
mediocre centers
bottom 6/3 scrubs

Apparently Clitsome is ok but his peripheral vision is just a little wacky so he will sit tonight, Stuart draws in. Clitsome has done quite well for us especially when Enstrom was out, he was top pairing with Buff.

for the "worst" of the firsts...i'm game...I think this solves a problem and gives us a serious center punch in a couple years with RyJo...

I think though if the Jets are getting the "worst" of the 1st's, that the 2nd would also be the "worst" of the Jets 2nds.

I'd assumed the LAK 1st when I gave this proposal my enthusiastic endorsement in the other Burmi thread.

I'm a tad more ambivalent if it's the middle pick. Top pick is a no-go.

I'd find that entirely reasonable.

(Yes, I know whose pick it is. Chicago.)

I too would think Burmistrov would be a good fit in C-bus, however, it would seem his value is low at the moment from reading the fans take and Noel seems to keep him on the bench in the 3rd. He's had a few years in the NHL and if he's not progressing I'm a little leary. Again, personally I like the idea, however, I'm thinking the price may not be that high at the moment. Just speaking out loud. If I'm way off, my bad.

I don't like the idea of getting Burmistrov, especially for that price. IMO, we'd be trading the better player, and the better pick.

I would only do it, if it was Columbus' 1st not LA's

Possibly, although it could be the 59th if the Hawks don't make the finals.

Nope. Apparently that compensatory pick can't be traded.

I'd probably do this, but as suggested above, if it's the worst of the CBJ firsts, then it has to be the Chicago second.

I always liked Brassard back when Columbus was my #1. He doesn't really fit Chevy's type of player, but he would add a lot to our scoring and PP.
