I know that, I just wanna know how he'd (Figure it's Talbot) fair in the big league.

This more than likely isn't going to be the case, I just want an idea of how it would go down

Mission is definitely not ready. Doesn't move quick enough and though rebound control is much better than a few months ago, it is still not up to par. Honestly, if he were anywher near NHL ready at the age of 22, he would be regarded as a blue chipper. Lundqvist only made it at 23.5, though he probably would've made it a year earlier but for the lockout. Still Lundqvist is a generational talent who is almost certain to make the Hall of Fame. Most goalies take longer. Mission needs a minimum of two more years, and even then he would need to keep improving dramatically, as much as he did this year.

Talbot is more polished. He is better, more confident, more athletic and playing on horrible teams all his life means he has a ton of experience facing al types of shots, power plays, fast breaks. Hartford, for instance, tends to collapde under pressure late in games due to youth and inexperience. And his college team (Alabama!) was particularly terrible, but due to his heroics, it would make it into tournaments where it had no business playing, where he would again usually be the best player on the ice.

I think he is very close to being ready. My main problem with him the whole year have been the WTF goals he gave up at times, but those have gone down. Had he played in the NHL this year, he would've looked like Vally at the end, but as he is getting better, I have confidence that he might be able to handle limited backup duties.

Tough 2-1 loss for the Whale tonight in Springfield. I really thought they outplayed them as far as even strength was concerned. The game came down to Springy scoring two PP goals and the Whale getting zero PP goals on five chances. You can tell how much they miss Newbury on the PP, even just as far as setting the thing up is concerned. McElhinney played great in net. But a couple of extra bounces and the Whale could have taken this one.

Andrew Yogan left the game in the second period with an apparent injury to his right hand. He was in a headlock tug of war with Nathan Moon. Moon flipped Yogan's helmet off. Yogan wanted to fight..they had a linesman in between them and Yogan had the right hand ready to launch. They kept gliding around and eventually Moon fell and Yogan tried to land a punch. He either hurt his hand by punching his head or the ice. He didn't return.

I have to add: Sean Collins looked even worse than normal tonight. I can't stand the guy. I know it's easy to have a whipping boy defensman in the AHL but damn...Logan Pyett is wasted as a 4th line forward.

At least Noob is coming back for the next game, which makes the team significantly more creative up front.

I guess Hrivik is not playing because he is out of shape after being iced for 2.5 months. We aren't playing until Friday, which hopefully will give him enough time. By then, he will be participating in full practices for almost two weeks.

With more offense and strong goaltending, this team should easily make the playoffs. There is a good chance, unfortunately, that this team gets help from Kreider, Miller, Fasth, MZA and Gilroy, as well as Lindberg, but for didn't reasons.

At least one of our teams could be going places.

With the size on Mission, you wonder what shooters will do if he gets ready.

Not the worst thing if the baby Rangers get help from guys we want on the NHL team next year and can build some chemistry.

Gotta look at the bright side of things .

While HIGHLY unlikely, it should be noted that Stepan, McD and Hagelin are all on 2-way deals, I think.

Pardon the divisional foe intrusion, but is there a reason Hrivik hasn't been playing? Been a big fan of his since his rookie year with Moncton, still can't believe he was passed over in 3 drafts.

Suffered a concussion the week before the lockout ended. Terrible timing in particular because it was thought he had a good chance to make the Rangers as a 3rd or 4th line LW.

Reports were that he was back practicing a little over a week ago, but it'll take a while for him to get back into game shape. We're hoping he'll play this coming weekend.

Whale have recalled forward Ryan Flanigan from Greenville per the AHL transactions page. Perhaps a replacement for Andrew Yogan. He might have a hand injury after Saturday's game.

Haha! In all seriousness, will be interesting to see if the Rangers pick up a playmaker type for the Whale. They could use that to go along with the big bodies.

I wonder if Lindberg or St. Croix could be that depth playmaking center Hartford needs. It is tough to join a team at the end of the year, so maybe not, but worth a try.

Yeah, those players would be great, but I envision a more veteran player who knows the league already. The young guys that come in don't often make the biggest of impacts as they try to gel to the new team and league. Still, they would be nice to add to the mix, that's for sure!

Luke Adam? He is falling off the Sabres depth chart rapidly. He is officially an AHL'er IMO. Not sure what would be the price or if the Sabres still view him as a prospect.

He looked like a monster two years ago in Travers City. Wonder what happened there?

Who's Luke Adam better than on the Hartford squad?

Noob, Mash, Segal, Haley, Ferriero, Tessier and Palm are all better vets.

Thomas, Hrivik, Bourque and maybe Jean are better kids.

Luke Adam would be a 4th liner on the Hartford squad when everyone's back.

Always thought Luke was a Center.

All three of the players you mention are subject to waivers--having a two-way deal has nothing to do with being able to play in the AHL.

It sounds like Fast might be coming to Hartford?

Steve Zipay ‏@stevezipay 13m
Not so Fast: Tortorella says of Swedish prospect Jesper Fast, who has been skating in Hartford: "We just wanted a look at him."

With the addition of Fast(h) and Hrivik, the Whale's already strong wings will become one of the best groups in the AHL.

It will also move Pyett back on defense in place of Collins, making the blue line pretty good as well.

If Lindberg comes over in time for the playoffs or if Miller got sent back, which would be best for everyone, this team would be rocking.

Oh really? I had no idea. I thought 2 way deals meant you can be sent down or called up without having to go through waivers. Thanks.

Two-way contract just means that your salary is dependent on what league you're in. For instance, a guy on a two-way might make $105k in the AHL and $650k in the NHL. A guy on a one-way contract makes the same regardless of the league he's assigned.
