Whitney and probbly Cole will not be traded but the rest sure. Petersen someone can have for a conditional 7th or waivers. He's an AHL player.

Robidas.

And I wouldn't include Petersen. I highly doubt any team would want him. He's a 4th liner on our AHL team.

Is this a joke?

Robidas is probably the best defenseman out there, a rh shot, and not a rental

Hey Gillis, while you have Joe on the phone why don't you ask about Robi as well?

Terrible G.M. Joe! I thought this was supposed to be a seller's market....
So since Joe became G.M. the following players have been dealt:
James Neal
Matt Niskanen
Michael Ryder
Steve Ott
Derek Roy
Jaromir Jagr
3rd round pick
What does Dallas have to show for these deals:
Alex Goligoski (plus signed to a stupid contract)
Eric Cole (already signed to a stupid contract when traded for)
Joe Morrow (the best of the bunch if that's saying anything..)
crap prospects
picks late in the 2nd round

Why did Roy and Jagr have to be dealt today? You can't honestly tell me their wouldn't have been a better offer for either tomorrow.

That core has for the most part been mixed and reworked since 1999 and with the loss of Modano the team really had no identity. Dallas had an exceptional run with their core, but you can't blame Nieuwendyk for trying to build his own legacy.

I just find it surprising he's deciding to blow it up all now while only being 3 points out of the playoffs. Took a complete collapse for Calgary to get it through their heads.

In any case, it's a hugely deep draft with a cap drop looming. There ain't much value to be improved on today, or tomorrow.

He must be freaking-he sure did not sign up for this steaming pile-don't you think he has to be available-

How does the cap floor work-stars must be below it

Considering half those players were traded for draft picks, really can't make full judgement until we see how guys like Shore and w/e we pick with Van/Boston's pick this year turn out.

I have to say that the moves Dallas has done this week are fairly good.

They stole young Morrow from Pittsburgh. The return for Jagr was not bad. THe return for Roy was very good. With Connaughton, Morrow, and Dilon, Dallas' defence is going to be stunning in a couple of years and then for a long time. Before we condemn waht has been done in Dallas, we have to see how the picks are used.

Dallas is doing what Montreal SHOULD have done when they had 11 UFA players coming up that we held on to and got nothing for. The returns Dallas has gotten may not be filling fans with confidence, but it was the right move for them to make.

Heck, the cap space they are going to have can be used on free agents or for draft day deals when teams are willing to give up players for picks.

I think Dallas should sell Whitney and any other veteran they can get picks/prospects for. Then they use some money this summer to get a few vets to help with the rebuilding process. As long as they do not over spend on anyone, they can save some cash and develop some young guys until the young guys are at a point where some high end talent can come in and make them better. Dallas can do a 3-5 year rebuild properly if they follow this course.

Don't need a 3-5 year rebuild, the team has been restocking its prospect pool and has players like Benn, Eriksson, and Lehtinen who can carry a team. What is needed is 2 NHL defensemen and a #2 C.
