So his gaffes while handling the puck help his save %...like the way it helped his save % when he came out to handle the puck and Patrick Kane took it away and skated in and scored on the empty net??? That type of play makes your save % skyrocket???

Not sure this arguement can hold water...

My god people are reaching trying to discredit him. He's playing well. Quit trying to prove you weren't wrong

I was harsh on him earlier, but he has done pretty damn good. I hope he can keep it up

I never understood the logic behind Dubnyk letting in "weak" goals. Why does it matter how strong a goal is if he is consistently letting in less tgan the other guy. He plays a style that allows him to save goals others would have let in, but this results in a couple of the ones he does let in looking weak. Personally, I'd take the goalir who lets in 1 weak goal to the goalie who lets in 2 strong goals.

Weak play that keeps the puck in the Oilers zone instead of clearing. Hence more chances for the other team to keep on shootin'.

Agreed, the defense has a problem with this, good thing Dubnyk's been so solid.

He is part of the problem with extended cycles in the Oilers zone. Just as the defence is.

Definitely don't want him to suck. Want him to prove his supporters are right. I'd be ecstatic if the Oilers made a deep run thanks to Dubnyk.

This is a critical time for him. If he plays solidly and reliably over the rest of the season with the games counting for something I'll be won over.

Dubnyk is only doing good because of the Norris caliber defense in front of him.

This is the type of attitude that our board could use more of...seem like we get a hate on for something (Horcoff, Gagner, Hemsky) and we just cant let it go...

Thanks for that.

I think the problem is people getting entrenched in their views. Hate on or love in for any player/coach/exec are both an issue.

I definitely don't 'hate' Dubnyk, or anyone else associated with the team for that matter. Just trying to voice my opinion. Like many people here I am passionate about the Oilers and wish the best for them.

Most of his 'Bad" goals have been on bad turnovers in our zone or d-zone colapses, which is always an advantage for the shooter because you have the goalie rattled trying to find good position quick. That being said an elite goaltender needs to get a lot of those. I think that DD can be that guy, he's definitely played several games where he's been unreal and hasn't just relied on his size.

I honestly think his brain farts will settle down the more he plays and the more confidence earns from the team. That being said he needs to work on his blocker side save a bit, been sniped there a lot this year

All Dubie has to do is play better than the dude at the other end of the rink. He doesn't have to be the best goalie in the NHL, just better than that other dude.

That's a problem that generally LOWERS save percentages. Your arguments have been fairly backwards, sustained pressure worsens goalie stats, it doesn't improve them.

I'm sold on this guy but he needs a good back-up to spell him off every 3-4 games as his play seems to fall off when overplayed. As the Oilers get better and the shot count goes down, maybe this also goes away.
IMO save versus Columbus 3 games ago, then Hemsky went up the ice and iced the game.

Calgary outplayed and outshot us, he stole that game

This is the weirdest statement I have seen on these boards.

Good job on breaking new ground in HFOil...I guess.

I'm pretty sure it's a bit of a "sarcastic" statement along the lines of some of the "criticisms" of Dubnyk.

Or, as was mentioned earlier, "arguments" from people who need to prove they "weren't wrong"

I never suggested that the guy would ever be a superstar goalie, but I've been saying all year that we don't need a new goalie.

Dubby is incredibly awesome after letting in his routine weak goal.

Dude covers a ton of net.

He's homegrown talent.

We need to ride him out for a few years.

We can't afford to dream of bolstering ourselves in net when we still have bigger problems in other positions.

Agreed, he gives them a solid chance to win everynight, and that's all this team needs, a chance to win.
