I think MB confused Drewiske with Drew Doughty.

No, he just doesn't play much. He's been the Kings #7 for years

Its funny how a lot of NHL gms kept saying there wouldn't be much activity. Whenever they say anything like that it pretty much indicates the opposite.

depth move, dude with size, PO cup experience...this means
1) rookies aren't ready for PO run
2) Weber & or Cadbury are gone

The Habs have been fortunate to be playing well enough to be able to give some young guys some NHL time, but going into the playoffs, this seems to be the type of guy you want in that 6th spot. I have to imagine the prices are too high for Bergevin to make a bigger move for a Dman. Kaberle and Weber might as well sell their sticks, they are done.

Good depth pick up for the back-end.

We called him 44DD...

I think the Habs paid slightly more than I was expecting (6th/7th/futures)...but still a good pick up...

We got a 5th for a D we wouldn't resign, he is a 7th now 8th defensman on our roster. We got what... like 10 picks in this years draft and LA is still the youngest team in the league. Nice move on DL's part.

Drewiske is Kaberle without the contract and "offensive" skills plus a little more grit.
Good team player, wish him luck.

I liked DD44 and will be sad to see him go. We just had too many dmen with Greene coming back soon. He's a good insurance guy, who can step into the lineup when needed.

He should have known something was up when we gave Obama #44

Hmmm that's quite an interesting trade we got here...

I suppose that CH are done evaluating their young defensemen Beaulieu, Tinordi and Pateryn and judge that neither are ready for the playoffs yet, which was expected.

We can also assume that Diaz is not ready to return to play just yet and might even not be ready for playoffs.

Of course, Kaberle is with Hamilton right now and we all know he's not coming back up.

Same should be expected of Weber soon enough, if he's not traded for a smiliar 5th round pick, as he is a puck moving defenseman we just don't need anymore.

We needed to get bigger in tougher in our end zone, I'd say that pretty much puts us where we want to. Drewiske should be a good defensive and physical 6th defenseman, perfect for our penalty killing that had some difficulties.

Another good move from Bergevin !

The guy is 28. 6'1. And hasn't played a SINGLE playoff match.

Holly crap this is ****. I'd rather have developped Tinordi, Beaulieu or Weber. We didnt need another 7th-8th dman. What we need is a guy that can eat some of Markov's minute. It cant be all... can it?

He has when needed. Don't expect anything great on either side though.

He doesn't play a lot. Perfect 7th defenseman. Comes to work, cheap, doesn't complain about playing time, and if he gets in, he won't kill you. Won't necessarily help you, but won't kill you.

He is what he is. That is the worst, and the best thing you can say about him.

Drewiske is perfectly serviceable as a #6/#7 guy. The Kings simply have amazing depth at D, which is why he doesnt get to play.

A 5th for him is fine. But more importantly, makes me even more upset all we got for Loktionov was a #5! UGH.

I'm sure Drewiske will do a great job keeping Kaberle and Weber company in the pressbox...well worth the 5th round pick considering our last four 5th rounders have been:

2012: Charles Hudon
2011: Darren Dietz
2010: Brendan Gallagher
2009: Gabriel Dumont

Bergevin shouldn't have wasted that pick on a guy we won't play or re-sign and kept it given our recent success in the 5th round, 2 of them have already played in the NHL and the other 2 look good in their minor leagues.

He's a good depth defenseman. Can play either side, fairly solid defensively, doesn't actively use his body but doesn't shy away from contact. Can put the puck in the net at times too, underrated shot, but don't count on him to be contributing on offense regularly. A bit inconsistent and not a great passer, but not bad. Pretty good deal for a 5th if you ask me, considering the market.
