It is important to have a good room. I know some posters here downplay the importance of having good character guys but it is important. Morale isn't as good when you work in a ****** atmosphere. It was true in 1993 when the Habs won their last cup and it still is today

I love our team, but our fan base and philosophy is, at times, embarrassing.

Again, we're not making it past the first round of the PO.

We got another DD. Does this mean we can finally trade the other one?

I guess I will have to go elsewhere to find his measurements.

Maybe. I think it's two-pronged. They're covering their @@#$# in case Diaz doesn't come back, and even if he does, it's good to have a different look on D depending on the competition. And of course if there are injuries. It's nice knowing that our first guy in case of injury is not Kaberle or a rookie (though i quite like Beaulieu and Tinordi thus far). Still a rookie is still a rookie, especially a D one at that.

FWIW, the Kings petitioned to have Whiskey's name added to the cup because he was not going to be on it due to how few games he played last year. They chose him over Andrei Loktionov, who played like 40 games with the Kings last year (Pisses me off Lokti's name isn't on it but it should've been on over Westgarth and not Whiskey. I'm rambling). So yeah...the team clearly was fond of him or they wouldn't have done that. I actually called his trade in the thread on our board when we got Regehr. Writing was on the wall.

After watching beaulieu for a couple of games, it was clear that the Habs wouldn't go into the playoffs with him taking a regular shift. He has potential but is (for now) completely overwhelmed in the corners.

Drewiske is in the last year of a 3-year deal at $650,000/year. UFA at the end of the season. Addresses a need at a very low cost. Too many GM's give up the farm for a few weeks of a service from a fading "name" player. How many of these deadline blockbusters actually work out?

Drewiske shoots from the left side so the question is: can he play the right side?

We'll see what he can bring. The LA board said he was non physical. I don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, I don't get this move.

Again, we'll see. Maybe management sees something in this guy. Bergevin seems to have an eye for underrated players.
Sounds like the Habs see using him as the 6th defenceman until Diaz returns, then maybe 7th if no one is hurt.

I think we are going to be pleasantly surprised, to be honest.

Interesting story. Guess that says a lot about Whiskey's presence.

The guy is a depth defensman, will play until diaz comes back. Can't believe people are mad we gave up a 5th. Yes we have struck gold in the past in the 5th round, but its highly unlikely that a 5th round draft pick actually plays an important role on an nhl team.

Plus he is better than webber and kabs so not issue for me.

I missed the sarcasm emote. Excuse me. I really just wanted to say that atleast once in my life. I did not actually mean it lol. I just heard it on TV once and told myself I'd use it

Agreed, Drewskie is a solid number 5 -6 guy bug a physical.
I like to compare him to a bigger Gorges or Boullion.....
Defensively responsible but with real size!

Last year on his contract at only 615 00...low risk high reward

Interesting pick-up. Off the radar. Bergevin and crew must have really done their homework on this one to deal for him. Let's see how he does. Hard to judge when no one has watched him play much.
The number of hits tells you a little bit about his aggressiveness. What we need is a big body that can clear the front of the net, a D that will hurt you if you stand in front of Price. I might be wrong but I don't expect this kind of player with one hit every two games. Good depth move nonetheless and hopefully he's our 7th/8th D.

Diaz isn't coming back.

He got HOOKED and got a concussion from it? Never understood how he really is this badly hurt really.

There is no news in any report about him.

Indeed, that seems to be the case with most Bergevin's moves.

Low risk, medium reward move. Not very exciting but he sounds like a very "safe" player and if anything we needed something like that. I would have liked someone more physical but there hasn't been much on the market.

Now trade Weber for a 7th so we at least have another pick to balance it out.
