I would take a 2nd or a 34d+4th for him. Ideally, I'd like a late first.

TA-DA!!!!
No, most proposals and suggestions are not thought through. It's very easy to say player a, b, or c would look good on this team, and trade x, y, z, they suck. The loss of depth in the off-season should be a stark reminder that there are consequences for getting rid of players and bringing in new ones, no matter how good or fitting they are for NYR.

However, if anyone here had the capacity to see the team and make moves in the same manner people hired within the organization do, they'd probably have a job in hockey rather than posting here. With that being said, should we just curb all discussion of trades and roster movement because no one here is really qualified to be an NHL GM? Obviously not, so it should be expected that there will be a myriad of conversation that sounds nice, but isn't really well thought out.

I assume you meant Clowe, not Close (Glenn?)? If so, I... What is this... I don't even...?

Edit: Boom. Beat all of you to it.

As far as extension, anything above $3.5M a year would be against my liking, I'm sure he'll get it though.
I...what?

Clowe probably wouldn't even be in the top-6 if he came here. Third liner. Unless Zuccarello does a complete 180 and stops playing well.

Better than anyone in our top six? Nash? Stepan? Callahan?

I'm told by a very good source in the NHL that there are currently 7 teams that are talking to the Sharks about Ryane Clowe at this hour.

Darren Dreger was on NHL Live today. Teams aren't knocking down the door for Gaborik.

I think he meant bottom 6. I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

I would have certainly dropped a 5th for Drewiski.

Don't often see "smart money" and "Rangers" in the same sentence.

Has there been any consensus of what we were offering? Now that we are in the final 2 I am starting to pay attention. LOL

La possibilité que Clowe soit échangé pour une équipe qui lui accorde une prolongation de contrat est mince. Il sera un joueur de location.

Translation. Clowe didn't get a contract extension. He will be a rental.

Ryane Clowe trade won't be done as a trade and sign. More as a rental. NYR and Vancouver on top right now.

I would suspect SJ will get some draft picks, including additional or conditional pics, if Clowe re-signs with team that acquires him.

My interests in Clowe has grown if he is to be a rental.
