Like others have mentioned, doubt Diaz will be back. Even if he does come back, who knows how good he'll be. The Habs were in desperate need of another defenseman. Sure you can risk playing Beaulieu or Tinordi as your 6th, but then what happens if there is another injury. Stanley Cup finalists are going to play 20-25 playoff games... that's half of this 48 game season. Look how many injuries there have already been so far. Anyone remember the Canucks 2 years ago?
Drewiske can be 6th D, Tinordi and Beaulieu will be 7th and 8th, and Weber will be 9th if he doesn't get traded.
FWIW, the Kings petitioned to have Whiskey's name added to the cup because he was not going to be on it due to how few games he played last year. They chose him over Andrei Loktionov, who played like 40 games with the Kings last year (Pisses me off Lokti's name isn't on it but it should've been on over Westgarth and not Whiskey. I'm rambling). So yeah...the team clearly was fond of him or they wouldn't have done that. I actually called his trade in the thread on our board when we got Regehr. Writing was on the wall.
Again, I'm quoting this post.
This speaks tantamounts as to the character and quality of guy we just acquired.
