I had no intention of making it out to be a huge loss.
Yeah it sucks we lost him for nothing and the Habs are short on defence but it is not any different then any other team who loses a player or two along the way for nothing or next to it!

When are we going to get over this? Yes he is gone live with it. No need to post every time he takes a leak.

You think he'd be that good if he was playing alongside Souray or Markov? I think not.

That's for sure it help to play around 23 min. by game and with Niedermayer. But he made it good...so I can tell anything wrong on him. We don't have these kind of D-men around here...

Begin and Bouillon... the two most overrated Habs.

Incidentally, after following it up with some CBA-perusing, I now realize the misconception I had... it's only players who are on 1-year deals who you need to wait until Jan.1 before extending.

So... in theory... we could give Markov an extension any time now.

Yes he had a good season, but Niedermayer can make Hal Gill look like Borje Salming.

Is it really necessary to create a thread about every signing?

If you wanna whine about this, go to the Ducks board.

The sadest part is that Gainey wasn't forced to waive him.... he simply didn't believe he could make it eventually. Currently, he would be a nice asset to our roster, allowing to Gainey to replace Souray without affecting our PP that much.

Moreover, I remember I was one of the only one on this board complaining about him leaving..... hope you guys will learn that I am always right!

Gimme a break with Beauchemin. Hes a 8th D-man, with some good chemistry playing with one of the top 3 D in the league. He would still not make the habs lineup imo.

That's not what I heard. I heard that Gainey asked around if other GM's would be interested in picking him off waivers and had no takers, so Gainey sent him to Hamilton since the Dogs needed him badly only to lose him in waivers, when it turns out had he waited a couple more days he could have signed him to an AHL contract like they did with Hainsey and he would still be with us.

That's not to say that story is true, or that we wouldn't have lost Beauchemin to waivers this past season.
