I don't expect a really big year from him...he's good, but it might be too early for him. He will not be hard to stop...Carbo will say something to Komi, and we might never see Kessel on a rink again

I was not at all impressed with him in the world junior tournament. I expect 30-50 points from him, at best.

Komisarek doesn't need to goon it up...he'll simply plow Kessel through the boards.

Not really... Just a defensemen who happens to be able to put someone through the boards. Literally.

Yes, Guy Carbonneau is a goon coach...

It will be interesting to see how Kessel handles being bounced around by pros. It's one thing to go wide and blow by guys in the NCAA, in the NHL it's a completely different story.

Me too. He was so dynamic in the WJC two years back, and I think that he certainly has all the skill needed to be ready for the NHL (maturity remains an issue, perhaps).

I'm not sure if it's possible that RDS could be right that he has no bonuses, though? Some college UFAs and some other guys from similar draft spots like Ladd and Barker have some significant bonus money in their deals. I would have thought that Kessel would be in line for some of it. Too bad for us if he doesn't have any, though... I'd rather see the Bruins carrying around a bigger cap hit for his services.

Then Lewis will say something to Chara, and we may never see Komisarek again.

I hope you didn't strain yourself pilling all that hyperbole into a single run-on sentence. It's sad what passes for sarcastic humour these days.

I could just write something witty to exploit yet again the Habs-Boston rivality... but frankly... I don't feel like it. Kessel is an explosive player who is very exciting to watch. He has an "outball" reputation, but the hockey fan in me can't wait to see him play. You Boston people are lucky to have him in your system.

And lucky as we are, the guy will become the next habs killer

Wow! What a defyingly accurate prediction! And bold, too! I'll predict something too: I think he'll get between 0 and 25 minutes of icetime.

I don't know if my use of sarcasm is better or worse than bb_fan, but habfan4, your post made me laugh pretty loudly.

Also LOL to those who think Guy Carbonneau is a goon coach. Didn't he win the Lady Byng twice?

Dude.. I kinda agree with the guy.
5 to 50 points sounds about right...

And Habfan4, I laughed out loud too...

I'll post some serious thoughts on the signing.

It's never a mistake for a team to ink their first round selections early (especially when they are as highly touted as Kessel). Kessel looks like he's taken his game as far as he can in the NCAA, so a year in Providence (which is where I expect he'll end up playing) adjusting to the rigours of competing against pros is going to help his development and will hone his already considerable skills.

Bottom line: It's a good day to be a Bruins fan.

I'm more scared of Kessel than any current Bruin. I think Kessel is the real deal and will surprise.
