It actually is, because it's a very, very small sample size compared to a very, very large one.

He is not a 40 goal scorer this year. He's injured and injured again over the years, not exactly a spring chickens body. Making more money than any of those guys you listed.

Like I said, I think its possible, but its no slam dunk, without having to take back salary.

I don't like this move, but I think it'll be fine. Maybe he needed a change of scenario. If he doesn't pick up his game, then it's a dumb move.. Ryane you BETTER wake your ass up in New York!

Well, we would have thought the same thing of Dubinsky, and he has 1 goal this season.

The same applies to Gomez. He was a 70-point player, then 30, then not in the NHL.

When some players production dips, they don't rebound. And I'm not saying it won't for Dubinsky, because he is still young, but it's not like Gomez was old when he fell off the face of the earth. Or even Drury or Redden for that matter.

He's lost a step this year, but never speedy to begin with. Still solid along the boards and a very good scrapper. Tough as nails but his playing style has resulted in being unable to stay consistently in the lineup. Will always stand up for a teammate but sometimes makes questionable hockey decisions. Word was his slow start was attributed to his assistant coach stint with the SF Bulls during the lockout and his not playing as a result. If his hands haven't completely left him he should be good for as many goals as Prust provided.

How should I feel about this? I'm in between.

Hopefully this gives the 3rd/4th line a spark. I can see it happening. I'll take those 11 assists... That means someone is scoring on the team.

Has there been any reports on what Clowe is looking for in his next contract? Years/Money?

I don't think we should play Clowe with Boyle. Unless our intention is for him to finish the season with zero goals.

Would have preferred Glenncross, even though Clowe has a higher scoring ceiling. We gave up a lot of picks to get him.

Not happy with the move, but I'm sure Clowe will fill his role.

You're welcome. Just give him a chance to show what he can do and I'm sure you guys won't be disappointed.

So we're going to sign Clowe to a 5-year deal so we can have a bigger sample size? We're dealing with ~10 games left in a season, I'm going to look at the here-and-now over what he was capable of 5 years ago on a much more offensively-minded team. No one outside of Ranger staff has any clue what they're up to, but it has to be something bigger than just this.

All I've seen is how much he's fallen out of favor with SJS and their fans for a while now. Comparing that to what he was capable of and how he played, compounded by injuries, age, loss of speed, and lack of production, it's not going to bode well for his inevitably short stint in NY.

So Clowe is basically a Pyatt who has a mean streak? Not faster, just grittier and more leadership? Not happy with the picks we gave up, we didn't have a first, now we lose a second and third.

I don't even care about the goals, he adds much needed grit. We have guys that can score they're just not doing it. We don't have many guys who play physical and stand up for teammates. I like it.

It could be a bad trade if he plays poorly and then leaves, but let's keep in mind that Clowe is a career second line power forward who consistently scored ~20 goals per season.

He's a beast. You're lucky to have him and he's easily a top-six forward at the NHL level, no matter what they say.

He's the victim of awful luck and once his shooting percentage regresses back to normal, he's scoring five goals in the rest of this season and he may very well get twenty next year.

If he had been shooting at his career shooting percentage, he's have seven goals and be on pace for twenty three.

guy relax with the draft picks nonsence this is the NHL not NFL who cares about the stupid draft picks my goodness everyone is so greedy with them. Common go back and check how many of the draft picks we have made are in the NHL. This guy is exactly what we need he is like Prust but much better hockey player. Last year everyone was in love with the guy and now we are going to cry over a few draft picks. We have Hartnell, Lucic etc running around pushing our dman around like a bunch of sissies. CLowe is a legit power forward and exactly what this team needs. Stop with the draft picks please

Yeah I like when players do those things too, every fan of every hockey team would say the same thing.

What I don't like is that our GM has to trade assets for players WE SHOULD BE DEVELOPING. Sather hasn't had enough time to get the role players right, I'll give him another 13 years.
