I've been hoping that ribs would take the initiative to become better as a player instead of being content on what he already is. This is a sign of Ribs maturity and dedication.
Lets hope power skating helps him out. I know he's not going to skate like scott neidermayer and it may not even help him gain one millisecond but it cant hurt.

Way to go ribs
For sure, it's better than doing nothing and with Samsonov and Kovalev, Mike can have 75 pts, who knows
Happy To See He Is Commited To Improving... We Are Stuck With Him, And If He Can Imrove His Skating And Play Away From The Puck He Could Have A Solid Year. We Will Have To Wait And See I Guess
Get a new contract ---> check

The jury's still out folks... but at least he SEEMS to be going in the right direction.
Interesting interview... but the girl is surprisingly forecomming about the performance of the player she teach. She make it sound like her school is responsible for Bergeron performances the last few years.
Hey I'm not Ribeiro's biggest fan but I'm not going to laugh at him, kudos to him for taking this vital initiative. Although a bit late, I can understand why he saw the urgency this year after one year spent in the new faster NHL. And contrarily to Dagenais, Ribeiro actually has some untapped potential left, so a faster more explosive skating stride could help him tremendously. But, because of his past and all his "I'll work hard during the summer to come back stronger than ever" I'll take a wait and see attitude about it.
With all due respect, he has been taking powerskating lessons for many years.
I don't know. Listening to the trainer it seems it's his first year doing this. Maybe she was only talking about this school but it didn't sound like it.

He said the same thing about each off-season since he's drafted and he keep on reading the same kind of article again and again.

That's what I understood too.
I don't know if you agree with me but I think this time Mike really wants to improve and change is attitude (now that Dagenay and Theodore are gone).
I bet he becomes our fastest skater this year, and um, wins the fastest skater thing in the all star skills competition, because he'll be in that, too.
Well let's just all hope he can gain some speed, cause if he's a slow as always, I can see a lot of annoying offside calls with Sammy and Kovy on his wings ready to break into the offensive zone and Ribs carrying the puck in behind them.

Yes I thought so also,
it's one of two truths, either he does every year and Ribs is as good as he is ever going to get,
or this is the first year he does the powerskating thing and this would only get me MORE ANGRE at him for only starting NOW.
Ribs has known for years that he is not fast enough and not strong enough but does have great vision. He should have been doing huge weight training and powerskating all along.
I will never fault a guy for having spent tons of off time in the gym and powerskating school and then still just cant keep up, he worked his butt off and this is as good as it gets.
But if Ribs is just now announcing he is working out WOW it's way too late.
Of course Gainey wants to see this, even late, but it sure tells a lot about Ribs now does it not?
Great news.
I knew that Ribs has been training hard at the Bell center since May (almost every day) but I didn't know about the power skating. Good for him. He will make liers out of a lot of people here!
