Per hockey db

Size: 6'04" 203. - this kid will be a load.

Age: 19 (turns 20 this month) - not your Kyle Wanvig overager.

He's big, but soft, but skilled.

All in all, a huge win for the 7th round. How impressive that the Wild's last 2 contract spots could go to 7th rounders.

If they hit home runs this next draft, I will be confident at the Wild's ability fo fill needs at the next deadline without hurting the long-term health of the organization.

Soft as in how? Doesn't look soft to me.

I truly think Tyler will make an impact for the Wild in the NHL. I've seen him play over 100 times live, and he's got the tools to be a great player.

Great pick, great signing.

Interesting to see how Graovac develops over the next couple seasons. He's certainly made progress the last couple but whether that continues at the pro level remains to be seen.

Just what I've heard from people who watch him on a regular basis.

Penalty minutes by season in junior: 17, 10, 31, 18.

Remember, Marc Chouinard was 6'4" 200. Size alone doesn't make you tough.

I was watching from for some reason early in the season, the CAN-RUS superseries I think.

He plays/looks like Pouliot, hopefully with a better head he can carve out a role.

I agree on the size thing. But, I've seen a few times he's fought. Doesn't seem like he's unwilling to drop the gloves. And when he has, seems like he can handle himself just fine.

This is just really odd stats:

66 GP 10 Goals, 11 Assists for 21 Points
50 GP 8 Goals, 19 Assists for 27 Points
60 GP 38 Goals 35 Assists for 73 points

I don't know how to really take that. He sucked two years and then exploded in his final year.

With a grain of salt.

Kid's got potential, but he's inconsistent.

Yeah. If he turns out to be a solid player, awesome. If not /shrug

I get that he has potential but I don't see the gushing over him simply because of this year. I like Haula better simply because of the sample size.

That just sealed the deal. Ha.
could he have been signed by Houston on an "professional try-out" contract to save a contract slot for the NHL side of things? Or is this the only way to get him to be able to play there because of that stupid CHL transfer agreement or whatever it is?

He had mild injuries both years, and didn't play on any top line, if I remember correct. This year, he was given the reigns.

Brodziak's replacement will arrive sooner than expected.

Graovac is better suited for that 3rd line role imo. He's bigger and has a more physical edge to him than Larsson. Maybe Graovac is our future 4C then if Larsson takes the 3C.

OHL coaches poll

Most Dangerous in the Goal Area
Mark Scheifele, Barrie Colts (35) – finished third in voting in 2011-12
Ryan Strome, Niagara IceDogs (18)
Tyler Graovac, Belleville Bulls (14)

Best Shot
Mark Scheifele, Barrie Colts (24)
Tyler Graovac, Belleville Bulls (19)
Lucas Lessio, Oshawa Generals (14)

Both Scheifele and Strome are 1st round draft picks

Did I say 3rd line center? I meant 1st line center.

If we get Pouliot out of a 7th rounder, i'd be perfectly happy with that. 30 point guy from the 7th round, sounds good.

Larsson has plenty of physical edge? He's a pitbull out there.

WRONG

Don't let this kid's size fool you, he's not a physical player.

He's very talented, incredibly talented for his size actually, but he's wildly inconsistent.
