Maybe you need to get out more. It's not like there are any nightclubs specifically reserved for hockey players... they go where everyone else goes.

Are you kidding. I'm starting to learn a lot about Mcphee's mom (o.k. I'm not gonna go for the easy joke here).. and I feel she wouldn't allow half the stuff he posts on this board.

As for you, Bill or Darz... pleeeaaase... you guys were the original immature posters. Gimme a break!

For having seen him at nightclubs pimping it out. YES!

And I respect him all the more for it. I want my players to be playahs too if you know what I mean,

O.k. O.k., I'll stop with the street lingo..

I work right next to Gogo Lounge and I usually work thursdays and friday nights, and I've seen him many many many times there. He usually has a baggy hoodie with a straight brimmed cap, and tries to look all tough.

All that crap is irrelevant. Maybe you saw me there too and I went to work the next day and having a great day at work.

Stop bashing our home kids who want to play here and actually play here.

You don't like his cap and his baggy pants. Too bad for you BUT I don't care. Do you know that a his generation is all about that hip-hop style. They can't be all Begin's style

Riberio always struck me as the kind of kid that had a huge ego and wasn't serious enough... but maybe he'shad his eyes opened now and we'll se the player we (and lets be honest here..) KNOW he could be.

Good on him for making the effort.

It's one thing to play... it's an entirely other thing to play "well".

His skating is still mediocre but it was abysmal when he started having lots of icetime.

He's improving...and if he was faster he'd be a way more dominant. I don't think, he'll ever work fast but it won't hurt taking those lessons.

Maybe Mike has finally realized if he dont get his **** together he aint going to playing for his beloved Montreal Canadiens anymore. And maybe he doesnt want to become a journeyman in this league. He has been givin the linemates he needs now it is up to him to make it work.
Good Luck Mike.

I dont know if i'd truly count that as his own initiative considering everyone in the hockey world was saying he needed to improve his skating. Plus thats what we heard about Dags last season. I'll beleive Ribs working when I see results.

Good for him. Lord knows he's going to need the practice, playing on a line with Kovalev and Sammy.

He 's working his skating for 3 years now . What i don't know is if he was working it at home before . But the thing is that a lot of people think that he never did anything to add muscles and to get speed , something that is false .

If you take the Ribeiro of the last quarter of the season , compare to what he was 3 years ago , i would say that he's probably the CH player that improve the most his game . I am still waiting to see a thead about the laziness of Ryder that doesn't work his skating during the summer time , or Saku that didn't work on his floppy shut since ten years , or Souray that miss the net 9 on 10 of time that doesn't work his accuracy , or ...

Hopfully, we'll see a new Mike Ribeiro with a new attitude at the beginning of the 06-07 season and this season may be is best one.

For the ones who read and undestand french, there is a post on CHFans and an audio available.

It's one thing to be a Montreal Canadien Fan...it's an entirely other thing to hate a guy because of his cap and his pants.

Everybody has in definition of playing well and I prefer a lot more Carbo and Gainey point of view then those "wanabies" of this board.

He's not perfect but he's not a first draft pick anyway. He's doing a lot more then those guys drafting by Montreal(and others teams) before him as first rounders. He improve over the years in a lot of aspects. I saw him a lot in the front our net doing some takeway..things that he never done in his juniors years.

He will never score 30 goals because he don't have a big shoot or that fast release but his vision of the game let me think of a Adam Oates style with Cam Neely or Brett Hull. Ribeiro is paying to be a second centerman and that 1.9 millions isn't to much for what he give to the team

He may benefit from increasing his leg strength.Im sure he is doing this. Sakic was describing once how he crouched and hopped from one leg to the next and it improved his jump considerably.

Naturally we'd all like to see better skating from Ribeiro, and I hope he succeeds. But if this is his first real effort to improve, why did it take him 26 years to wake up?

I'm not bashing him for partying too much. God knows I've come to work hung over. You simply asked for proof that he goes out a lot on weeknights. There you go, eyewitness testimony. I don't get what you mean by "his" generation...I'm part of it. I listen to rap too...

I'm glad he's finally taking initiative and taking powerskating, but I wonder why it took him 6 NHL seasons to realize he needed it.
