Can someone explain why NHL player Derek Morris creates such a buzz on trade deadline day?
Never heard of him until the year the Rangers got him, and it seemed like he was one of the biggest Dman moved that year.

Top 4?
Shutdown?
PK?
Good contract?
Doesn't seem to put up a ton of points and is 34 years old.

Well if the Yotes lose tonight they would have a hard time squeaking into the playoffs. What would it take from Toronto? 2nd round pick + D'Amigo?

I guess we don't know what we got until it's gone. It's probably just because we can't resist the temptations of NHL player Derek Morris.

All of the above. He is actually having a career year, D wise. Lost a lot of weight and is much more mobile. Excellent guy to have in the room. A solid pickup for any team that needs a top 4 minute eater.

I'd think the Hab and Leafs would be the two biggest teams making a push for Morris.

Morris to the habs
Robidas to the leafs

Is how i think it will fall.

You would have to think the Leafs would seriously look at this. Probably wouldn't have to give away a whole lot and he could add some nice depth to our d-core

All of the above. And 10 points in 30 games for a stay-at-home d-man is *plenty*.

I can see teams having interest in him. The question is what it would take for the Coyotes to lose interest in keeping him? Since he is under contract for next season, at least a forward will be coming back that would be under contract for next season, fit Tippet's system, and be effective.

Simply prospects up front. If they can get them, I think they'd consider it. Plus, we need other players to talk about now...

No to Morris for me, He has been a minus player in a D strong system. Leafs could use a Robidas as a rental.

He'd be perfect to combine with a few good young defenders. This is a great one though. To many teams dont surround their young D with experienced professionals. The Ducks have been really good with this when it comes to the younger guys. This type of move fits their logic.

How I would love the Leafs to use this logic. Morris playing with Gardiner for a year would do wonders.

Perhaps I can shed some light...
Derek Morris is the fictional character that is the father of Zack Morris on Saved by the Bell, even though he was only ever in two episodes, he left such a mark on television history that he actually is more famous than NHL Player Derek Morris

he's a prime example of the type of player who shows that people on this site who think they know better than nhl gm's, don't have any idea what they are talking about.

I don't know about NHL Player Derek Morris, but I hear AHL Player Merek Dorris is generating interest too.
