I didn't like this move at first, but Sharks fans seem a little heart broken over it, so I'm definitely excited to see what he can contribute to our 'Meh' season. Any idea if he'll be playing tomorrow? Someone said so on the Sharks board, but I didn't see a link.

This is accurate. They are alarmingly similar.

Not all the fans. The one who were fine with letting him go talked of a slower version of what he once was, plus his contract was gonna be a problem.

I really like Clowe. This looks like exactly the type of player we need.

Imagine what Clowe and Cally could do on a line.

Lucic isn't a heavyweight fighter though, to be fair. Clowe is.

Again, I'll say it one more time: Clowe is not really like Lucic

They play a different style. If I had to grade Clowe as one type of player, I would probably say Playmaker, because Power Forwards are considered dude who drive nets, run goalies, and stand in front of the net in the power play. Clowe does not do those things, and I don't know anybody who's been calling him the Milan Lucic of the west. I don't know if I'd call him better than Lucic but they're close. (Lucic is kinda overrated IMO even though he's one of my favorite non-Sharks) Clowe is a playmaker who happens to also be very physical, forechecks hard, and is willing to fight. In addition, his drive to win, his toughness, his work ethic, his willingness to put himself in the way of his teammates, and his love for the game? Up there with the best.

He's easily my favorite non-Shark now AINEC.

Clowe - 6'2 225lbs
Lucic - 6'4 220lbs

When Clowe is on his A game they have a fair comparison, however neither are HW fighters...both just prototypical power forwards.

Just because you can fight a heavy doesn't mean you are one...

Whether they are a-typical to each other or not, its an embarrassment to classify Clowe as a fighter

I would disagree with that...Lucic will fight anyone. He's one scary SOB. I hate him, and god I wish he was a Ranger.

He slumped in the beginning of the season and then wasn't playing with any of SJ's top players recently.

Sometimes this whimsical change of scenery thing works....hopefully this is one of them.
I'm wondering if perhaps he wanted out of SJ... He cleared the rangers from his No Trade clause in a matter of hours. That must mean something. Off year or not, he definitely wants away from the SJ organization, is what I think

Would like to see this against the Pens tomorrow.

Side note: love the Sharks' keyboard version of Rock'n Roll Part 2.

I'm excited to see him on the ice for us, simply because we've all seen what he's capable of doing. He's got to be an upgrade over Pyatt, who should hopefully be on the move in the near future.

I've never seen him play so I'm excited to see what he can bring to the team. I'm hoping he creates a spark and adds some growl to the game.

I've warned up to this trade. Comparing hook to Milan Lucic is a compliment.

If he plays similar to him, he'll be loved here. Not a bad price either.

That's what I'm hoping. The Sharks fans coming here to say how he hates losing. The fact that he will drop the gloves and looking at his fight card--he's pretty good--beat George Parros quite handedly, drew with Engelland, a number of other big names as well--the guy is strong and he has shown some ability in the past to get on the scoreboard. He gets back to that and this team games a lot of attitude and he should show up ready to go--show up psyched to prove himself.

Let's see how all the naysayers react when finally someone answers the bell to a Chris Neil running all over our guys...all while chipping in some points. Of course I have a bit of a concern for the shoulder issue, but that may be blown out of proportion. We'll see.

I absolutely love this move.

What this move provides the Rangers is a physical presence for the top 2 lines, something we severely lack.

With his size and willingness to go to the net he's going to open the ice up for Richards and Gaborik (who I think he gets paired with initially)

Additionally, when d-bags like Hartnell and Simmonds try to take liberties with those two, Clowe will be there to answer the bell. We won;t have to wait for Asham to get put on the ice to police matters.

Leave Hagelin with Stepan and Nash, put Clowe with Richie and Gabby

Get out of my head!!

I've been inclined to believe that the offensive problems are more due to lack of strategy and practice than team toughness so I'm interested to see how the team responds to this move. I'd be happy to be proven wrong but my gut feeling is that the offensive struggles will continue.

Sounds a lot like us with half our roster... Gaborik being traded would have been a laughable discussion up to this point, no?
