Matt Duchene is a beast

This guy is unreal. This season he's been very good, by far the best player on the Avs. His offseason training payed off. He's more physical, and now he does great defensively and pretty good on the PK. Very fast, great all round skating, and stick handling. IMO he's sometimes the leader of his team. He's more vocal and will speak his mind, and he's a very honest guy.

Duchene also has matured. Last year everytime he had the puck he'll be spinning around with it or whatever. He already has more goals and assists than last season with 13 less games. Call this a bit of stretch but he may easily be a top 15 player or higher right now... Remember, he's coached by Sacco.

Quite underrated for a guy who's been called "immature", "injury prone", and ugh, even "draft bust"

Meh... Just thought I would make a thread of Duchene in NHL Talk, because he's awesome like that.

But why would Duchene be compared with the best goal scorer in the NHL?

On a serious note, great to see Duchene having such a great season. Kid had too much talent to continue at last year's pace and he's certainly proven that he deserves that big contract he'll inevitably get, unlike O'Reilly.

I had no idea Matt Duchene was doing so well. He's one good week from being top 10 or even Top 5 in league scoring.
Wasn't he from Denver and they were his favorite team growing up too?
Living the dream.

He impressed me a lot when we played you guys the other day. Very fast, and good hands, and you could tell he wanted to score a goal.

Hopefully Avs names Duchene as the captain shortly. The new tradition is to change the captain every year, so maybe it is Duchene next.

Justin Timberlake is a really good dancer, but idk what that has to do with hockey.

Duchene has been outstanding for us this year, but I will argue that Varly has been our best player.

I think the Av's have a ton of potential in the future, possibly even as soon as next season. Good young corps of forwards. The P.A. contract looks better and better by the day. A new coach would help too.

Coaching and D-core. Our coach plays Hunwick more than he plays EJ.

Nothing to do with Duchene, he's been great this year.

Avs defensive core is a disaster. Add Sacco and you have a perfect recipe for a bad season.

watching bits of every game every night on center ice, I was really impressed with his skating, his form is almost perfect with a smooth powerful stride, looks incredibly strong on his feet
