Bishop would have been 24 at that time (Second year pro i believe). Usually Goalies don't get a starting gig until their mid to late 20s. Bishop is 26 now.

I'm not saying that he's a surefire #1 goalie in the NHL but i'm not going to knock him because he didn't make the Blues over Elliot at 24.

Keeping in mind just because it's 1pm doesn't mean all deals are over, takes up to an hour sometimes to get everything confirmed.

I'd say this shouldn't be a problem as a lot of deals were made yesterday making things slower today, but it took over an hour for the Jagr call to go through yesterday...

Yeah but that's Boston. If Boston makes a deal at 12:59 today we may not hear about it until tomorrow.

Also why are we running two threads right now?

just listening to TSN radio in Winnipeg talking about Burmistrov potentially being available. I wonder if Belanger+pick would do it?

They had him in their system for so long that he was going to be a UFA, group 6, they had a Small starting NHL goalie, but didn't have enough confidence in Ben Bishop to really give him a shot to be the NHL back up, and they signed the WORST GOALIE IN THE LEAUGE in 2010-11 instead.

Then, when the Blues realized "oh this guy is going to be a UFA, well damn it, I know start "leaking" stories". The Hype built up, the Sens were sucked in, now that they have no need for him, they want return on their purchase.

I would probably take much more then that. Plus I don't know what he adds to the Oilers mix, imo.

I doubt it. I can't see them giving him up that cheap. If anything they'd probably want another prospect that has struggled, maybe a Nino.

Thought we couldn't trade Belanger because of his injury?

this is exactly what happened, also elliot, halak, allen all look and have great numbers, they are a product of their system. like matt cassel before he went to the cheifs

Physical center who has improved every year on the dot. Bit of a project though.

Honestly? Foolish statement.

Ottawa, victim?

They traded a 2nd in a weak draft class for him. Anderson went down and Bishop has been really good this year....now they'll flip him for a 2nd + something in a strong draft class.

Real victim that Daffy Duck Murray.

I'd have to look but every year there usually is a guy dealt who is on the IR.

I'd be happy with Bishop but not at any cost.

I saw some poster on the Ottawa boards suggesting that they should target Omark and it actually got some support.

Omark for Bishop, straight up

My Jets buddies here in the Peg who are season ticket holders say he has a lack of hockey sense.

I'll actually be pretty disappointed in tambo if he does nothing. He has to do something to add to this team right now if we want to win....

I personally think if we can trade whitney for boychuk, and dangle hemsky or jones for a puck mover, i say do it.

cant make a trade for the sake of trading but we absolutely need help if we want to make the playoffs

Dreger says we probably stand pat, maybe at depth forward. Terry Jones says he disagrees we do nothing we have available assets.

If he was such a bargain, why is SO available and has been so all season long? I mean, Anderson is Ottawa's starter, and Lehner is the future, so what's Bishop? That guy that's just kinda there that they want to make back what they invested.

No sure what's hard to understand here, but hey enjoy the Hype while it hypes.

exactly. he's also pretty sound defensively and PKs.

i don't mind the project aspects. he's skilled and would compliment some of our other guys.

Belanger isn't on IR is he? rumours are his injury status will not prevent him from being traded and playing later this year.

No worries, like JS29 mentioned, deals can come out after, but teams can't "make" anymore deals after 1pm Eastern.

If I was at home on a Wednesday for no reason other then to watch the TDD, I'd probably have one already.
