I know everyone loves Komi, I mean, I do too, but business is business.

If we make the NYI deal and sign dumont, it is basically komi for dumont with a few perks added on.

These stories keep getting worse by the day.

The season can't come soon enough so we can stop fabricating rumors

As an Islander fan, I don't want to see this deal get done. I would love nothing than having a local kid playing on the island, but not if it means giving up Bergenheim. This kid is the real deal. Plays like Jason Blake except bigger, better, and hits alot more. I think he is going to develop into much better than a 3rd line winger. But as the islanders tend to do, they have mismanaged him. And right now they are squabelling over nickels and dimes on his new contract and he is threatening to play in Russia. I could care less abouot Martinek and Colliton.

Yes, but Komisarek has become a fan favourite.

He dishes the huge hits and has now shown that he can score 1 or 2 goals a season.

If we didn't need a physical dmen badly, I would agree. But now... I'm not that sure, especially when I consider that we could lose our three best dmen next year.

The only posters who are very upset are the ones who don't know anything about Sean Bergenheim. He's another Saku Koivu with less leadership and playmaking but way more speed and crashing and banging. And he certainly has the potential to surpass Koivu's recent point totals. He's the kind of player that is involved every shift, all over the ice. A fan favourite for sure.

So to those of you who don't like the sounds of this deal, research the kid a little bit and when you see him play, your opinion will change real fast. Because he's an Islander, he's probably one of the most unknown and under rated first round picks of recent years, but if he was on a more highly visable team he'd be getting a lot of love here.

many of us are not liking it because of the fact that the habs are already loaded with forwards when it's common knowledge that we lack the young depth on defense. emelin and fischer won't be with the team for a while, while Ryan O'Byrne and cote don't have the same kind of upside that komisarek possesses (komi was exceptional last season). with 3 of our top d-men becoming UFA's next season, trading komisarek would put us at a very vulnerable situation.
i've heard a little about bergenheim, and the guy does have a lot of 'upside'. but if he was as awesome as you say he is...he'd be playing for them right now. it's not like the isles are loaded up front or anything.

It's a negotiating ploy. He wants a one way contract and the Isles are trying to force him into a cheap 2 way deal to save a buck. Clearly, he is good enough to play in the NHL now. He was playing on the top line at the end of last season. Then he went to the world championships and was one of Finland's best players (check out some of the threads around that time, the Finnish fans absolutely loved him). A lot of Isles fans are extremely pissed that the team is trying to screw him out of a few dollars when he has been such a good player.

I do nt want this deal, sure Bergenheim is a great prospect but as mentioned before habs need help on defence. I am betting since this rumour has been running around for a while I do not believe it will happen!
