Islanders trying to acquire Brandon Saad

per Arthur Staple
Quote:
Source says #Isles are trying to land Hawks rookie Brandon Saad. Cost is high, clearly, but Snow is interested.
Good luck, Garth Snow! Price would be high, probably someone like Strome/Reinhart would have to be coming back, I'd think.

Wasn't there a rumour that Chicago was trying to land Nielsen/Streit? I wonder if this rumour simply started from the Isles asking for Saad in return, with the Hawks promptly saying, "Hell no!".

Wow. Price has to be nuts for Saad.

Hawks will take Tavares.

Obviously, I'm not being serious. I do not see a potential trade here at all.

Only thing I can think of. Analysts are bored and desperate. Hmm... we've already reported that the Hawks want Nielsen a few times... OH!! Let's report the instantly declined request the Isles made in return, as if it might happen!!

If, for some unknown reason Bowman trades Saad in a deal that doesn't include Tavares (and why on earth would the Islanders trade Tavares). He should be fired on the spot.

I wonder if Streit would go in this deal? Streit + for Saad and a defensemen?

I can't see a reason or player they would trade Saad for

Other than Tavares obviously

I wouldn't even want Okposo for Saad

That being said - its obvious Snow would be interest
The same way 29 teams would be interest in Kane or Toews

Please no, Bowman. He's way too promising and there's nothing on the Isles (barring what is unavailable) that would help us as long term as Saad would.

Staple doesn't "just" report things.

In fact, I've not seen him report on anything that's fallen flat.

He's the old school reporter who reports on something typically that's 90% done.

Isles wont be trading Strome, Reinhart, or Nelson.

Really not sure of Saad's value, something around Nino and Streit? I could be way off though.

Oh so when it's your player now, it's different?

I said time after time on here why the Isles have no incentive to trade Nielsen, but your guys kept coming back like a broken record.

Send a message via AIM to wabwat
the price would have to be (and should be) astronomical... and it would have to involve something beyond Streit.

a move like this could really disrupt the chemistry Chicago has with their forward group - not necessarily something i'd be willing to do were i at the Hawks' helm.

Saad has significantly more value at this point than Nino.

This is retaliation for the "Hawks want Nielsen" rumor.

Why would Islanders want to move Nielsen?

If the return is good, all players can get moved. Same with Saad.

There is seriously nothing short of Tavares I would take for Saad. Way too much promise.
