Why would the Hawks trade a key piece of their roster for a prospect who hasn't done much so far with his time in the NHL. Hawks need to have pieces for a cup run.

Niño got handled terrible too. Fourth line time, no pp, and no pk.

The difference being that Chicago is one of the best teams in the NHL, and having a young (cheap) player contributing the way Saad has is much more valuable to them than to a borderline (I'm being generous) playoff team.

Craig Custance @CraigCustance
Told the Blackhawks wouldn't even consider trading Brandon Saad. Don't see that one happening.

Shocker

How dare you use stats to judge Nino's play? You aren't looking at his potential

That said, it's not that I think Tavares and Saad are in the same UNIVERSE valuewise, there's just no reason to move him now. 3 years from now if he's asking for too much on his new contract? We'll take our chances then.

Both are important players on their team, it doesn't matter how good the teams are.

The only way I could see this deal going down is if Islanders absolutely offer something Chicago cannot turn down, say Moulson (or Nielsen) and a 1st (Or Strome, or Reinhart), where Chicago has to go "Hmm, that's pretty tempting. We love Saad but that's too hard to pass up."

Most likely a defender since the Hawks are so stretched in that area. But what about that Streit guy...

I'd offer Streit+ a #1, Strome or Nino in a heartbeat.

The only thing that would make sense for the Hawks is Ryan Strome, no?

Would have to better value than pending UFA, Saad is beginning to turn into a 20-year-old Top 6 forward and those are pretty much priceless.

lol Why not. The Islanders could use this kind of player. Who would they have to give up. If they can get a deal done around Streit...all in on that. Saad was vastly overlooked in his draft year and the Blackhawks lucked into him.

I'd love to have him, but I don't see a fit here at all. not with our hoarder GM. he hates to trade prospects. scared to death they'll turn into all stars for someone else.
