Calgary has gotten a ton from Miikka over the years and if he really wants to retire in Calgary Im not too upset. Thanks for being upfront about it Kipper.

So more leaf fans bashing Luongos contract and Canuck fans defending it for the next little bit, looking forward to it

So he's not planning on playing out that final year in his contract?

if i was Nonis i would look at bulin wall now. The guy can still play and is the experienced goalie For Reimer.

That's a good call. Not sure if Khabby has a NMC of any sort?

I still expect Toronto to make one more push for him and talk to him once more before the deadline.

No he's not. If he was, your GM wouldn't be in the market for a veteran goaltender.

This is like the cool phrase that people hope they one day get to be the one to post in a new thread on HF. Really obnoxious. I think Kipper confirming that he's not going to accept a trade (on deadline day) and will retire at the end of the season (~12 games away) is pretty worthy of it's own thread.

Good for him, Wouldn't have minded him as an insurance policy but I'm more than content with Reimer and Scrivens.....now lets hope they don't trade for Loungo.

Feel like Toronto dodged a bullet with Kipper. Hopefully they stay pat on the goalie front because that's not their issue.
Hopefully this doesn't mean a 9 year long Italian bullet is coming our way.

Much respect for Kipper making this decision. There is something to be said about loyalty regardless of winning a cup isn't that right Jerome.

I think the Kipper acquisition was mostly PR by Nonis and the Leafs anyways to try to gain leverage in the Luongo negotiations. Maybe now Nonis will get Dreger to float the rumour that Johnny Bower is coming out of retirement.

Umm, no it didn't.

The Leafs want a backup as insurance, not a guy to replace Reimer with the worst contract in the NHL.

If Gillis wants to move Lou anywhere, he will have to absorb part of the cap hit and likely add futures.

There are still far more attractive goaltending options on the market other than Lou.
