It may be absolutely true, but it doesn't mean Chicago's going to budge...

soo yeah...
Really, the comparisons using Nino's rookie year are ridiculous. Look who Saad is playing with and then look who Nino played with, along with his TOI. Kid was getting like 4-5 mins a game on the 4th line with Jay Pandolfo and Marty "1 goal in the past 2 seasons" Reasoner.

Saad is having a really nice season, but when he was brought up last year, he had no points in 2 games...so he really isnt all that great

Nobody is saying Saad is worth Tavares, we are just saying that there really is nobody else on the roster that would interest the Hawks enough to move a young, cheap top 6 player on his ELC. That is extremely valuable to the Hawks.

That's possible but I can't see that happening.

New York can want him all they want, but he's untouchable unless we're getting a star. The only reason the Hawks would trade him would be in a package for a bonafide star that would help them immediately. No one on the Islanders that is available fits the bill. There may be fair value with some system guys, but they don't help Chicago going forward with their Cup run this season.

As Crew alluded to in an earlier post, the Isles and Hawks have been talking regarding Visnovsky, Streit, Nielsen, etc. before today. It wouldn't be surprising for Snow to just kick the tires since Saad is a very attractive asset. All of a sudden the media gets a whiff and reports away. With the amount of action (or lack thereof) so far today, they'll report pretty much everything and anything.

Typical HF logic. Lets not give Saad credit for actually being able to work his way onto the 1st line of the best team in the league while ignoring the fact that Nino couldn't get off the 4th line of one of the worst teams in the league.

These type of deals rarely occur on deadline day. Horrible rumor.

1. He's a Calder candidate, not a prospect anymore.

2. He's PPG over the last 15 games playing with Frolik and Toews. And the funny thing is it's HIM that makes that line score, not Toews.

3. You're taking my post way too literally. I understand that Tavares and Saad's values aren't anywhere close, and if Saad were to be moved I know it would not be for Tavares without adding a ton. I simply said I don't WANT him to be moved. I wouldn't be happy with him being traded unless we got Tavares back. There is literally NO reason for the Hawks to CONSIDER moving a player who not only plays well on the 1st line, but is its #1 catalyst.

So yes, perhaps we overvalue him. But that's because we need him right now.

Chicago and NYI are not good trading partners. We both have the same major need, and we both have the same type trade chips (prospects/picks).

I may not know Saad's promise or upside, but I can't think it approaches Strome.

A year next to Tavares and you'll see what I mean.
You way overvalue Strome. Isles would make that trade in a heartbeat.

I don't even consider Saad a prospect anymore.
He's a 20 year-old, top line winger playing on an ELC for two more years.

He's untradeable.

I can't see any piece on the Islanders that would benefit Chicago immediately; they will not trade Saad for picks/youth.. that's pointless.

No one that I saw said Saad was worth Tavares.

I've watched all the Hawks games this year, and while Saad gets the benefit of playing on the first line, even when he wasn't scoring much at all for the first 20 games, I'd say that overall he's looked to be the Hawks 2nd best forward behind Kane. I'm not saying that he's a better player than Hossa or Toews, just that if you watch the kid play, he gets "it". Toews over his career has been a slow starter, but Saad has looked REALLY good in all aspects of the game, and was really contributing to the success of the line, even when he wasn't get points.

I have no idea if he'll be better than someone like Strome (or Nino, etc) long term, just that with the position the Hawks are in looking to make some noise this year, there is no way that Saad would be moved for "futures". And given their cap situation next year, I have a hard time seeing Saad getting moved for a player making significant $'s unless it's a really big deal.

Strome is almost as untouchable as Tavares. Strome is JTs friend from home and is being groomed to be his linemate for the future. Garth has constantly said he wont trade his youth so i dont see anything happening here honestly IMO. Saad will cost one of our young assets and i dont think itll work out

Yeah, it sure is sad how Hawks fans overrate their 20 year old NHL players while the Wings' 25 year old AHLers get underrated! Hey...I am sure your top prospects will make the NHL some day....
