cause as i eluded to, but didnt elaborate on. i dont believe he works in our system, thus i dont believe he will be a great player here... unless we change coaches or play style

IMO this is one of those situations where a player has more value to other teams both now and long term than it does for us. which ups his value

again, im not saying i want to move burmi, but i fully believe hes available for the right price. a 1st plus prospect would a give us another solid up and comer that is picked to fit the mold of the team.

whether you or me agree with that mold is different, but still... thats my take

Apparently Burmistrov is now being actively shopped:

The Jets are shopping Alexander Burmistrov. He could move today. #Tradetracker

What's the asking price? He might be able to get back on his feet in Chicago, but the Jets would probably not get anything serious. They could get a 2nd or a 3rd and a B-level prospect.

It's not a risk. This is just asinine behaviour on the part of Claude Noel and Chevaldayoff. Leafs would be happy to trade Frattin+ for Burmistrov.

Would do that in half a second (assuming the + isn't too huge).

I asked a week ago but the thread got buried.

Can I get a definitive statement from Jets fans on Burmistrov? What is he, exactly? I know how he is being used by Noel and company but that obviously doesn't accurately represent the actual ability of a 21 year old.

Is Burmistrov still capable of being a #1 center in the NHL? Was he ever capable of that? If he is capable, how likely is it? What capacity do you see him filling in 2 years (i.e. 3rd line center, good two-way 50 point guy, etc.)?

I really, really like Burmistrov when I see him play (mostly last year, less this year). But I want to be accurate in my valuation of him.

Stafford to Winnipeg, Burmistrov to Buffalo - with added pieces to make it fair.

Make it happen Regier.

I think Burmistrov is a Frans Nielsen Lite right now. He would be a good fit in Chicago

Even though Tavares and Burmi dont get along I would take him in a heart beat....

That being said I dont see WPG trading him for scraps...

Burmistrov is listed as a center, but I assume he doesn't play center? Is he capable there?

This almost seems like a no-brainer for the Oilers. 1st+2nd+Hemsky for Burmistrov + Hainsey? Close?

I don't want to lose Burmistrov, I think he's got tremendous potential.

I thought Garrioch was classed as Hockeybuzz level of credability when it comes to rumours..

Unless Bettman has another "bright" idea to bring hockey back to Atlanta.

I would love Buffalo to take a shot at signing him. He'd be another young piece in the rebuild.

You cannot, he's an enigma. He starts every year strong as hell. Then he goes back to his old habits (holding onto the puck too long, not doing anything with the puck after crossing the blue line, facing the boards with the puck, too many dipsy doodles, not driving to the middle, not shooting, etc..) and flounders the rest of the year.

I don't think he has the smarts to be a #1c. A good defenisively aware puck distributing #2 yes. His ultimate potential? Datsyuk.

So do we. That's the problem.

He punches well above his weight, don't let his size scare you. He's not afraid of physical play, and has knocked down guys like Chara quite a few times. He's an absolute monster on PK, near elite status. His ability for takeaways and shutting down passing lanes is unreal. Then he gets the puck, carries it into the other zone, and holds onto it for 10+ seconds playing keepaway from 2-3 PP players. He's really good at drawing penalties too on the PK.

His only problem is when he gets the puck 5v5. It almost always results in a turnover. He won't dump the puck.

Not saying he can't, or won't be traded, just that Lawless is saying the Jets are not "actively shopping him" but willing to listen.

Best possible outcome: Datsyuk (-like)
Worst possible outcome: Decent two-way center who can play bright at some days with average FO stats but good PK stats.

IMO.

A change of scenery could be great for him, maybe not. Maybe it will make it even worse. Maybe more patience from us is the best, maybe nothing will change. We're just a bit clueless right now.
