I hope he gets called up. This team isn't going anywhere this season so might as well give him a shot..

Agreed. I've completely written him off.

I remember a time when I had high hopes for Howse. Man, was our drafting ever garbage under Sutter. lol.. Feaster takes his share of criticism here, and a lot of it is warranted, but one definite improvement under him has been our drafting. Night and day.

While our drafting wasn't the best this pick looked pretty good at the time. He put up excellent junior numbers just couldn't translate to a real game.

agreed, pretty much lost hope when his first year pro he came in out of shape. Looks like he never proved the doubters wrong after that. Its odd because I remember he was so excited to be playing with his ex team mate in Horak.

Looking at that draft year for us is painnnnful. Erixon was our 1st rd pick, no 2nd and Howse in the 3rd.

Ugh.

Not sure yet. I've always felt as though the proof is in the pudding and I won't be convinced until some of those picks make some sort of an impact. The only two young players that were drafted by the Flames playing right now are Backlund and Brodie, and neither are Feaster's pick.

We thought we had some gems back then too. Dan Ryder, Dustin Boyd, Chris Chucko, Irving, John Armstrong, John Negrin, Matt Pelech.

I could find a comparable prospect in our pool for every one of those guys. Injuries and luck had a bit to do with it, but it just goes to show how difficult it is to draft and develop someone into an NHL caliber player.

The Heat could use the D help, their defense has gone from being a strength to becoming pretty porous as 2013 has progressed. It would be nice for them to make the playoffs still after their strong start. And even if Cundari doesn't improve the defense, he should be able to add to the offense from what little I know of him.

This exactly. When the Flames drafting/development is getting better is when the Heat are consistently putting one or two players into the NHL every season. Right now there are likely more future NHLers on the Hitmen then on the Heat.

You can't judge the new drafting on who is on the heat only Sven is on that team that was drafted by this management. Wait 2-3 years before if it really has improved most likely 4-5 years would be even more telling.

Ryder was lack of skill, the guy just didn't want to play anymore.

Ryder broke his brain. Basically couldn't handle the pressure. Skill was definitely there.

I remember when there was talk that Horak had somewhat rode Howse's coattails throughout junior, than bam, Horak makes the Flames while Howse can't make the Heat.. Crazy, just goes to show, you never truly know what you have until its there.

To be fair to Sutter, he finally reached for some skill players. Not exactly his fault they didn't pan out.
