Unless Bishop lives up to the hype in TB, Ottawa are the clear winners of this deal.

Tampa Bay also has guys like Namestnikov and Kucherov in the organization. They are likely to have a top 5-10 pick in this years draft. Cory Conacher was a free pick. He did not cost a single asset for the Tampa Bay Lightning to acquire and he returns a goalie that the organization feels like is worth the risk.

I like Conacher, think he'll be a good 3rd/2nd line tweener who can put up 40-50 pts a season. If people are putting him with Tarasenko and Huberdeau just because he's pacing with them in points, prepare to be highly disappointed. Some of you guys are acting a fool about this.

I think this is a good deal for both teams. Bishop is going to be a good starting goalie in the NHL.

Not sure why people are getting so worked up over this.

Bishop's the real deal. I think both teams will be happy with this deal. Bishop's ceiling is higher than Conacher's too, I'd imagine.

Conacher is not even very proven, he just had a very hot start to the season. Plus, Tampa got Conacher for free!
Good way to look at it. Nice post.

I just relly wish one of our goalies pan out now though. If Bishop does not work, than it must be the system we run. Noe xcuse why none of our past 30 goaltenders have failed here..

I am confident our D will turn around though with new Head coach Cooper, and a full summer/training camp.

I am just in shock though. I mean, at the games I went to here, they would advertise Cory on the jumbotron non-stop, so I was expecting him to be part of our core "un-movable" players that we were marketing around.

My initial reaction to the trade was that the Sens robbed Tampa big time but after some reflexion i think we should be prudent and adopt a wait and see approach about that deal.

If Ben becomes a #1G which is likely, then this trade isnt bad. I dont get the over-reaction. Ottawa just looks like they win because they are trading from a position of depth (which is beneficial for their team). WIN WIN here.

...and Tampa fans immediately throw Conacher under the bus.

Seriously, Bishop is a good goalie and Conacher is a good skater. I'm happy.

Lol Yzerman could've acquired Luongo for what he gave up for Lindback + Bishop. Idiot.

Excuse my language, but if you look up trade-**** in the dictionary, Yzerman's picture can be found there.

Second leading rookie scorer plus a 4th rounder for a two-time cast-off backup goalie.

Wouldn't be surprised if Steve gets the axe in the next 2 years.

Goalies are too unpredictable to trade away a talented forward like Conacher for IMO.

TB needs to put a competent group of defenders together before continuing to waste assets in the search for a #1 goalie

In the last 28 games Conacher has 3 goals and 8 assists and is -11

He's benefitted from a hot start.

This is a HUGE win for Tampa.
