1 has played for winning organizations his whole career, the other has played for by all accounts the 2nd worst organization in the league.

One got Cory Conacher the other cost a 3rd round pick and they took a cap dump

I'm waiting for someone else to confirm that before I start laughing at Columbus until my face sloughs off.

Mason blew through goalie coaches because he is such a head case, if he couldn't handle it in Columbus he's never going to handle it here. is Homer Hoping that Mason can play defense??

Upgrade over leighton
it's a 3rd, not that big of a deal.

Seriously, Leighton is gone.

That tweet doesn't make sense. Says we are getting leighton and third. He wrote it backwards

He has Leighton traded to the Flyers with the third, so an error in syntax.

I'll hold off on laughing, and go back to grave concern about watching Mason in net.

I don't like it, but I can accept it. Like I said, Mason likely would have been unqualified UFA

After the top 50 picks, the draft is a complete crapshoot. I don't think it is that terrible of a deal.

It would be brilliant is Mason turns his young career around and becomes a stud. He is still extremely young and the Flyers have always liked him.

I agree with this person. Even if Mason ends up as bad at least he won't bring flashbacks of costing us a Cup.

Why give up the draft pick, though?

Mason won't get qualified and Leighton wouldn't have been re-signed, so all that happened was that Columbus acquired a draft pick.

Looks like poor asset management to me.

How do you consider Mason a competent backup? Take away his rookie season and he's a career 3.00 GAA and .900 save %age goalie.

BTW, to put that into perspective that's pretty much exactly what Michael Leighton's career NHL numbers are (2.97 GAA, .901 save %age), except Mason makes $2 million more a year.

A third is overpayment granted but we basically traded Leighton for a Leighton that has a slight chance of being good. Not worth a third but still an upgrade.

Poor asset management isn't new to the Homer regime.

Who cares about a 3rd?

Leighton is gone and Mason at least has potential. Win from my POV.

D_Leed thinks it's the draft pick we got for Powe. It would be better if it wasn't our pick.
