reminds me of gaborik with his gamebreaking speed and stickhandling, if this guy is well ''groomed'' he could be something phenomenal !!!

BTW, can someone fill me in as t owhy he was drafted in the 4th round, aside from his speed? I mean the guy has a career high of 12 points in a slovakian league... not all that impressive

Well when he was drafted he was considered one of the biggest steals of the draft. He put up points playing with men, in a good league, while being 17-18 years old. He has tons of speed and super soft hands. I believe those are his bread and butter, I don't know THAT much about him. I just know he's very fast, and has a great great set of hands for deking, if he can put it together he can put up big points in the Q, I fully expect him to, and where he goes from there is up to him.

IF he works out, and he seems to be a project, he could become a top 6 guy in the NHL I would say. Or he could just easily be another Jozef Balej, time will tell! (Hey, maybe we'll get to trade him for another Kovalev )

he played almost 80 games in one season in Europe, usually they play around 50 games

but of course the Habs have seen him and like it, speed, talent

It sounds more like "Eille, ********!" could very well be in direction of the refs.

Looks like he has good hands, it will be nice to see games at the Centre Georges-Vézina this year!

Even though I only saw him for a short while, I can confirm that Mikus has mad puckhandling skills from the scrimmage day at the development camp this Summer. He's a quick little bugger, and can do some magic with the puck, so it'll be interesting to see how he does in the Q as a 19-year old.

IIRC, he was dominating in junior. In a way, he was interesting as a pick the same way Andrei Kostitsyn was an interesting pick; both are highly skilled forwards who have grew up in not-so perfect hockey environments and have glaring deficiencies because of that. Mikus has raw skills, and you can't teach that. I'm really looking forward to see if he can pull a Sergei Kostitsyn in is rookie season in the Q.

I'm going to take a guess here and say that Mikus was the no 19 in white (lol)...

One thing for sure is that guy has wheels! I love his skating, I love the way he keeps himself open, I loved the way he backchecked in the first video.

I think the Q will be a good experience for him. He's got great speed and looks like he's got soft hands but he need to be a bit more patient (and again... that's from looking at 1:30 of video lol).

I did not like when he tried a wraparound instead of cutting to the net, I did not like the way he screened the goalie, I did not like when he tried a no-look pass when entering the zone, I did not like the way he lost his battle along the board.

However, I think these small mistakes are just symptomatic of trying to do stuff too fast. The skill is there, he just need to develop a bit more agressive mindset and have a bit more patience.

My very amateurish 2 cents.

Thx for the video keep'em coming!

Wow! In that first video he was awesome. Smooth skating and he's fast as hell too. Seems to be a little bit of a puck hog though.

He was playing in a men's league. He did struggle...but it's not much of a big deal. He seems to have solid, speed and skills and he isn't smal!! He juts needs to add some muscles. I wish him good luck for this season. If he has a monster season, he'll quickly climb in our prospects charts.

First time I've seen the guy in action and I'd swear in that first video, once he gives the puck up the first time and starts backchecking, the video starts to fast-forward for a few seconds Holy smokes can the kid move. Looks a bit rough in the way he plays (not physical - rough, more rusty in decision making), but he's new to North America and its pre-season so no worries there. Can't wait to see what he will do when he settles in a bit, if he will look to make a more accurate play earlier or if he will prefer to believe in his abilities and if needed, hold onto the puck until he can do something with it. Lets face it, if he wants to be evasive, it looks like its not something he'd struggle to do. Hopefully there will be some more online clips of him through the season.

Thanks very much for posting those Prospector

Great Vid.

You did see some amazing skills at the development camp especially his speed and really great puckhandling skills. Just as far as the puckhandling skills was concerned, he was the best no question.

But again, he might have some problems finishing, though this was in his first game EVER in Juniors and seems that the Sags won't be a force to reckon with so not only will he have to adapt but they will need him to produce fast so we'll see what he's made of.

Hope to see how he handles the intimidation and physical play, I was quite surprised to see at the development camp some battles he had with some guys, didn't look like a guy who would be afraid of mixing it up.
