His qualifying offer is 2.9M, so he's basically a UFA (unless Homer is going to do something really dumb and offer him 2.9M per).

So basically, the only way this really works out is if Homer's plan is to extend him for cheap and then give him a chance to start. Otherwise, we just paid a 3rd round pick for 1 month of a bad backup goalie.

Bryzgalov to Toronto for less than whatever they would give for Luongo.

Make it happen.

A 3rd for Mason is fine.....if he's not making $2.9M and a UFA at the end of the year....

Wait did Columbus get Gaborik without giving up a 1st? Thats just brilliant. Brassard has been disappointing, Moore has potential(i wanted him) and Dorsett is a goon. WOw.

Do you really think someone will ffer him that much in the open market? No

If he wants to, I think Homer can get him signed to a lower contract

TSN confirming that Leafs and Canucks have NOT completed a Luongo deal. Once again, I apologize for my reading mistake earlier.

I don't know about any of you but I'm very proud of homer. Addressed some minor issues and saved the rest for the summer. No problem with that

Mason is a RFA-- gives the Flyers some power in case they think they can rebuild his career.

Actually not the worst idea, I believe its a slight overpayment, but it gives the flyers a chance to check him out before deciding if they want to resign him. Also if he's terrible, we could just get a better draft pick.

Well, maybe. They'd have to qualify him but his price is pretty high. Not what he would sign as a UFA for most likely.

That's kind of the point though. He could have got him for less in the offseason, and saved the 3rd round pick. The only way it works is if he re-ups him for less soon, but even then he still could have waited and saved a pick. The 3rd rounder isn't necessarily that important, but it's like giving it away for free.

EDIT: Scratch that, he's an RFA not a UFA. It's not that bad then.

EDIT 2: His qualifying offer is so high that he's basically a UFA, so it goes back to being not that good lol.

And Bryz is a bargain? I'll take $2.9mil for 1 year over $5+mil for 7 years.

No, we acquired the tanking services of a tanking veteran.

Mason could be the key to getting Seth Jones.
