Thrice is pop/punk, while Alexisonfire is the worst band in the universe.

But, I'm going to see them on september 6th since the're coming with Everytime I Die. So because of Everytime I Die, I've seen Bleeding Trought (horrible) a few months back, and now Alexisonfire. Thanks a lot guys...

You could add that The Dillinger Escape Plan played before AFI (!!) in another show, so I pretty much had my quota of terrible music this year. (it was funny to see the faces of the little girls and their mothers when DEP started playing thought)

Who's the third band with Everytime I die and Alexis? Is it Cancerbats? If so you should have a decent show....

Everytime I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan I don't like. Instead, I listen to something with some melody (August Burns Red and Between the Buried And Me). These are heavier stuff.

Don't know about the other band you named, but I can't stand between the buried and me...

Don't know Cancer Bats either, what do they sound like?

DEP is pretty insane music though. pretty technical. i can go really crazy, but for some reason, DEP is just too much for me.

i would set myself on fire for you

have fun!
Thank You. I've already heard Refused and I don't really like, it's getting closer to "basic" hardcore (like Pantera, now we find more and more melodic hardcore like As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Atreyu, Caliban etc...), and I prefer something in the reach of death metal. Still, I didn't listen to everything Refused done so I only judge from what I heard. Throwdown is the only hardcore band I like.

Throwdown have a pretty generic sound to be honest...You can find another 15-20 bands that sound very similar...

I can't stand them. I found them to be TOO technical, sometimes you have to slow down and put in some melodies. What is technical is good, let's say In Flames' debut, they were pretty technical but still were able to write some awesome songs without giving a headache to the listener, it was catchier.

Hell I know, but since I've been to their show, I'm in love with this band. The only flaw I see is their lyrics. Not really a fan of straight edge.

My friends listen to hardcore 24/7, it's only natural that I pick up on it... The current scene in Gatineau is Hardcore...So you either learn to like it, or just sit at home while your friends go to shows...

As for Throwdown I wasn't saying they aren't good, I just meant that I found it weird that he only liked Throwdown as Hardcore, when alot of bands sound very similar.

They seem to be too crazy. They all sound like they're holding their noses when they sing

I was one of the biggest AOF fan out there for a long time. Their first 2 records were totally amazing and very original. But the new cd Crisis is total "?"$"$". It looks like they make the cd in one week, with each song during 3min 20 sec and being unoriginal and "easy".

There is no longer amazing guitar parts (like intros or transitions between songs). All the songs have the same patterns. I'm very dissapointed. They make a new version of their latest record Watch Out! but more commercial. The guitars are very boring and everything is now based on the guitarist's vocals. Before, the music and the screams were the most important part of the songs, now it's the total opposite; the clean vocals are all that matters.

Alexisonfire has done what many other bands have done before. They now think money before music. Shame on them. They are just following steps of bands like Silverstein, A Static Lullaby, Taking Back Sunday, Billy Talent, and many more. Try to listen to the new Underoath. That's what I call a great record. They could have easily done a new commercial version of their previous record that was very populair, but instead, they did a record 10 times heavier than the previous one. They are one of the only band that I still respect. Usually, after one or two records, 75% of the bands suck IMO. Anyway, that's what happened with almost all of my favorite bands 1 or 2 years ago (Alexisonfire being one of them).

DEP were pretty good, but the sound wasn't great for them. I'm not really into that sort of thing on album, but it was nice to see live.

in the end these 'screamo'/hardcore/metalcore bands ripped their sound from the gothenberg melodic death metal (at the gates, dissection, dark tranquillity) bands.

the only bands that i can stand that are similar to AOF are, darkest hour, unearth and the black dahlia murder.
atreyu and those other garbage screamo bands, are atrocious.

I hate Thrice... especially old Thrice. I saw them in mtl with Coheed and Hot Water Music and they were terrible. Then saw them at the Skate and Surf Fest in New Jersey and they were a little less bad. I have to admit they are much better on cd than live.

Good punk to check out:
Hot Water Music
The Loved One
Larry Arms
A Wilhem Scream
The Draft

I for one is stuck in Gatineau which is running only on Hardcore and no other kind of music. And I really hate hardcore. Only bands I listen too in the hc genre is Strife, Snapcase, Red Roses for a Blue Lady and Refused.

The world needs more SKA!

Agreed that Atreyu is atrocious, like most of the genre actually, but there is some great stuff in the hardcore/metalcore genre too:

Converge
The DIllinger Escape Plan
Everytime I Die
Bane
Botch
Refused
Sick of it all
Snapcase

And none of them were influenced in any way by that kind of metal...
