Good deal for the Avs either way.

For Toronto, depends on what O'Byrne shows up. Last years or this years, i'm guessing the latter.

No argument there, but RoB was by far, clearly the worst player on a team filled with a bunch of garbage.

Lol considering Douglas Murray got 2 second and everyone was talkign about how awful he was when traded, I'm not going to get my panties in a knot like some of you over losing a fourth for him.
If he gets hit by a bus on the way to the ACC, the Leafs will not fold due to the loss of a 2014 4th round draft pick.

No, it must be that we know first-hand how bad he is. All the Avs posters in this thread can back us up.

Is there any D that has been good for the Avs lol? I'm fine with ROB...it's a 4th pick, we might get a 3rd for Mike Brown lol..it evens out.

We could acquire EJ right now and people would tell us how bad he is so I don't really mind the deal at all. People lose their heads when they start talking about the Leafs.

It's real hard to find unbiased posters here when they're talking about the Leafs.

He is what he is. A depth defenseman.

The 4th rounder, in its current state, would be more likely to stop a rushing winger.

I hope he plays the way he can in a new team with a competent coach. At best you'll get a steady, tough guy who can eat minutes

At worst you'll get some eye candy

The 4th makes it worth the risk. Not to mention we have hungry defenders waiting in the wings, if he decides to crap the bed.

Relax non-Leafs fans; we'll be fine with this minor trade for a player that will play in the bottom pair or sit. No need to get so emotional over this; although your concerns are appreciated.

So happy when I came here and saw O'byrnes name. His only skill is being big.

Sorry to disappoint, but the trade deadline was at 3pm and this one came in after so I doubt there are too many more trades left (if any at all).

We just wasted a 4th rounder. Could have called up Komi if we wanted a Bruiser. And Komi has been pretty good this year too.

O'Byrne made the NHL because of his size. Sadly, his hockey IQ and skills are way below NHL standard even if he's not bad in the skating department. He can be useful with limite icetime and on the PK I guess. Looked like to have a great attitude and was appreciated by his teammates back in Montreal.

No you won't.
You'd be better off with Sobotka or Fraser using those minutes

He's been awful this year, after being pretty solid for us before. He was good with Liles. Hope he can regain some of that. Good luck Big Sexy!

I'm not saying that Toronto will miss the 4th...I don't much value draft picks. However, I don't see why it would be O'Byrne...Toronto already has really good defensive depth. You have better players in the AHL right now than ROB.

Not sure why fellow Avs fans feel the need to post how bad he is in this thread. He is a good depth guy. Big, sometimes uses his size, isn't afraid to drop the mitts. ROB and Hejda played against the oppositions top lines all last season and performed well. ROB has been poor this season, but he will be seeing less icetime in TO which will let him get his game back. He is almost incapable of moving the puck, so pairing him with a puck mover should help his game too.
