Good for Gaborik not throwing anyone under the bus on the TSN interview. Class act. Best of luck to him.

Agreed. Wish him the best. Let's see how many other UFA's we sign that produce like Gaborik.

We butchered this team.

For younger fans like myself, he scored one of the most important goals we have ever seen:

Defended him to the death on here. I can only wish him the very best of luck throughout the rest of his career. My absolute favorite player on the team. (Now I need to wave pom-pom's for Clowe )

Best forward we've had since Jagr.

Best of luck in Columbus this year. Next year, different story.

Only two other players in NHL history scored multiple 40 goal seasons with the Rangers. Ratelle and Gartner.

I will miss Gaborik so much. Torts should have been the one to go not Gaborik. Ridiculous.

This is the saddest I've been in a while (Rangers related lol). I was super pissed at first. I loved Gabby.

This was me when I heard the news:

Fell in love with Gaborik during his first season here when he was using his wicked wrist shot like this:

He scored some sick goals for us but there have been long stretches during the past few years where he just didn't look like that same kind of player, his shot didn't have the same zip on it, etc. due to injuries.

This is a sad day.. I just sold my Gaborik jersey recently and now that he's off the team altogether it feels like the end of an era.

But he just wasn't the same player this year for whatever reason, and it seems like this trade might be better for both the Rangers to get more balanced and for Gabby to get a fresh start on a new team.

Happy trails Gabby. Hope you can find your "quick release" again and put up some numbers for Columbus.

Deserves a round of applause, and not the inevitable boos from the 400's that will accost him his next game at MSG.

Ah Gabby tees and jerseys, what shall I do with you?

I loved the guy but this is the best move for both teams. Leaves us with a couple million along with getting some depth. All three look promising (Dorsett, Brassard, and Moore)

For a team that has been bereft of scoring talent over the past decade, it was real easy to love Gaborik. No player is bigger than the team and he was having a crappy year, but some of the vicious hatred he got was ridiculous.

Thanks Gabby, best of luck, until you enter the division next year.

Go get the Jackets in the playoffs this year!

Just remembered that Gaborik got a hat trick in the All-Star game last year and was named MVP.. kind of meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but it was a cool moment for my favorite player on my favorite team.

This trade is going to leave a bitter taste for a while. Wish he could have been utilized better. Goddamnit score 50 goals next year.

I literally teared up when I heard about it... but one has to think that the trade is better for him. Whether or not it's better for the NYR, well, we'll see about that.

I would've liked if we got at least a 1st or one of Dubi/Arty back, though. It's pretty obvious that Columbus underpaid for Gabby... but I'm assuming it's because of contract reasons.

I'll be wearing them to all Jackets games in MSG..

All the best in Columbus, Marian, hopefully you will get back to a full health and show some 40+ goals seasons again!
