If Gaborik is on his game, you'll love him...his stats are weak this year, but he has been playing well the last few games. Been snakebitten. I think he could have a huge bounceback season next year, and even heat up down the stretch with the trade. He works best when his teammates create space for him, and Columbus is a hard working team that creates space, much like the 11-12 Rangers. He had great success with Prospal in 2009-2010 as well.

What are your guy's opinion on Brassard? Interested in what kind of player he is, all I know is that he's skilled, decently productive C, and the Rangers need center depth. I know all about Dorsett, happy about getting him.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 1m

#CBJ GM Jarmo Kekalainen says he sees Gaborik "as a long term solution, not just a short-term fix."

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 2m

#CBJ RW Vinny Prospal reached out to Gaborik earlier in the day.

Looks like he had to be convinced..

Brass is like Gabs. Very up and down. I think he can stil ldevelop into a 2 C with 50-60 points.

Not a shot at you Jan -- but I can't help but laugh at this statement. From about this point last year through the summer, Rangers fans consistently told us the exact opposite.

As an outsider, I think this is a bit much for Gaborik. But he should be coming to you with a point to prove, so I hope it works for you.

Gaborik on TSN: "It's good that somebody actually wants you on the team."

Doesn't sound happy with what transpired between him and Tortorella.

He's had a bad year scoring wise, but he's been skating well. I'll miss him. You guys are getting one hell of a player. Damn.

From watching both, I disagree with his statement completely.

Gaborik is a better finisher than Nash. He's a garbage goal scorer. He goes to the net, bangs in rebounds, gets into the open space. He has terrible hands on the rush. They're completely different players, not comparale at all.

I think kekšlšinen did this partly for income.. Doesn't gaborik bring more ticket sales, than the guys who were traded. Gabo will sell sum tickets next year / bring intrest.
Probably not, besides winning more games which I hope is a by product of the trade.

Gaborik isn't a Super Star that will bring marginal fans into the arena based on his name. The name recognition is there, but only among hockey fans, and most of us are buying tickets already.

Wow. JD's hopping a private plane to pick Gabby up tonight. Have him in the lineup tomorrow.

I'm just going by what I've seen with my own eyes. Gaborik is a pure sniper, but Nash has a lot more skill. Just going by what I've seen.

Gaborik earned a lot of credit with me last spring playing with an injury that would have kept us from combing our hair (if people still use combs). Not taking anything from him, but Nash is the better *all around* player.

The Rangers page is 12 pages of profanity-laden lament.

I'm ecstatic.

Per JD at the press conference, Letestu changing jersey numbers AGAIN for Gaborik.

He'll be #55.

Pretty sure that happens with most trades involving guys with NTC or NMC. Maybe not, but that is what I would think.

That wasn't the point I was making.

I actually think Nash is the better player as well. Was just pointing out that when the players were on the other teams, many a Rangers fan kept telling us that Gaborik was better.

#CBJ RW Marian Gaborik will wear No. 10. Mark Letestu will switch to No. 55.

3rd Number switch in 9 months for Letestu. Who does he think he is, Duvie Westcott?

As I said in post 189, Gaborik is a sniper. Nash has more talent. He controls the puck better and can pass it better.

And in my original post I said Gaborik has the better shot and quicker release.

I think his shoulder injury has hurt him a little this year. I expect him to recover and still be a 30 goal scorer, though, he hasn't ben relying on his shot the last while. He's a smart player, he adjusts when he needs to. That said, he's limited. Not a puck control player, not someone who will carry the puck and start the play. He is an elite finisher and gets into open spots on the ice like no other, though. H
