Thank goodness Randy Miller isn't the Flyers GM.

This is the type of clowns that cover our team, its honestly sad. This deal isnt bad for us Ill take Mason over MFL anyday, and anybody suggesting that from acquiring Steve ****ing Mason that Bryz will be bought out should stop watching hockey, or start for that matter to get a grip on themselves.

Pekka Rinne was 26 his rookie year, Vokoun was 24 when he finally stopped bouncing back and forth between the IHL and NHL, Luongo 25, Belfour 25. Most goalies are in that age range when they finally become competent starters, Lundqvist 24, hell Hasek is considered one of the best ever, and didn't even have 10 wins before his 27th birthday

After him it's either idiots that think they know what they're talking about or guys who just pass the news as it comes along and don't give any insight.

I think the only reason anyone would think Bryz might get bought out is because of the ludicrous cap hit that comes with Mason. An all around wtf trade for sure. Holmgren probably forgot another CBA rule that will come back to kill us.

I cringed when I saw that Randy Miller tweet. Couldn't unfollow fast enough.

Yay for almost $3 million dollar back ups. Correct me if I'm wrong - but if Mason is resigned under RFA terms, the maximum cut in salary is 15%? Meaning a ~2.5 million cap hit.

At least maybe Bryz will get some rest time now. And yeah - about this goalie situation...

Yeah, the price tag is poor for a backup who's struggled as much as Mason.

Homer's trying to work out deal with him for cheaper than the tender offer.

With the cap going down, teams may be afraid to spend this offseason. That may be leverage.

I can't see anyone giving Mason an offer sheet this offseason.

Haha! Now we know why Holmgren got Mason. He's a decoy for Nashville!

Wish we could have given something lower than a 3rd, but Wavier Savior is gone.

Mason is a restricted free agent. What rule prohibits renegetiating a new deal with RFA you traded for? That could be cheaper? What's wrong with getting an early look at a guy at the price of Leighton and a 3rd 2 years from now?

LOL Couts and 2nd.

If any GM offered a package like that they should be fired immediately.

You know a beat writer is completely insane when the other beat writers are calling him out for being an idiot.

It's not rational, it's not a smart use of a draft pick, and Leighton was going to be gone for good anyway in 13 games.

I understand now why you really don't care about Bryzgalov's contract, because you live in some fantasy world where draft picks and cap hits don't matter whatsoever.
dont worry his fav. love doll is right behind Leights in terms of being gone..

soon Mason will seal the fate of Bryz.

i'll predict Mason comes in and has better stats vs/ Bryz (reset both goalies stats to 0 as of this date)

Servalli doesn't know about the 2/3 ratio for buying out players aged 26 and over.

The Flyers owe Bryzgalov $34.5 million over the remaining 7 years on his deal after this season. Bryzgalov is 48-30-10 with a .905 save percentage since joining the Flyers. The buyout formula is money remaining divided by double the term remaining, so $34.5 million divided by 14 years is $2.4 million per season until 2027... to not play for the team.
