Buffalo got a ton for Pominville, not a price I would have paid.

Gord Miller
Min/Buf trade: Sabres send Jason Pominville and a 4th in '14 to the Wild for Johan Larsson, Matt Hackett a 1st in '13 and a 2nd in '14.

Man Buffalo got a ton for Pominville. They are going to be really good in a few years.

I don't see Calgary with a Spezza or a Karlsson, let alone both.

I like the Bishop trade. Bishop did exactly what we asked, which was to push Lehner into being better and then fill when Anderson went down. In the end we go far more than we gave up for him. On the other end, Tampa uses an asset that they are loaded up on to meet a need.

Win/win.

I wish Murray would have gotten another solid defenseman, but considering Karlsson and Cowen are coming back I guess that was not a big enough organizational need to give up a part of the future in a trade. Not having another solid D will make for a tough playoff run though.

Oh and one more thing.

Can we say the Senators won the trade deadline now?

Conacher
Spezza
Michalek
Cowen
Anderson

(and for the super optimistic, Karlsson in the SCF)

back for the playoffs. Hopefully.

One of theories floated....Wash has trades Filip Forsberg. If that's the case...return must be huge. #tradecentre

Minny had to give up a 1st and a 2nd too? Wow, I liked that deal for them at first but now they got absolutely fleeced. How was Buffalo even able to sell so high on Pomminville when he had 25 points and is only third on his team in scoring?

And damn, Minny is really pushing for a top seed in the West this year. Do they really think they can hang with Chicago, Anaheim and Vancouver?

One positive is that no Pominville against us in the remaining Buffalo game.

Forsberg for Erat seems to be the basic.

People are calling for a significant plus to be added to Erat, but I bet it's only a small(ish) one.

It's not a bad trade for Minnesota at all.

Hackett is a good goaltender, but they have Backstrom, Kuemper, Gustafsson and other G prospects. He's expendable, much like Bishop was for us.

Larsson, 1st, 2nd is a lot of assets to give up, but they have drafted well and have a top 5 prospect pool in the league, and are competing for the division now, they can afford to deal prospects for established players. I hope we look at doing the same thing in the next few years as we look to contend.
