Too bad Gillis can't be like Burkie in ANA when he waived Bryz to the Coyotes, just so he could play.

Problem is no one wants to pay that kind of coin. Canucks should put him on waivers to see if there are takers, and then just move on with their lives...

If Canucks buy out Luongo, I'd be happy to have the Leafs sign him for 2 years at 4 million per.

I'd be happy to give him his current 5.3, just not for a decade.

5.3 is too much for me.

Atleast now Canuck fans should be able to admit his contract sucks. Even Luongo himself says it, how can they try to say he has a great contract now?

Poor Gillis, Luongo used the old honesty card . He should be the last person upset right now. Stubbornly has tried to get a lot for a really bad contract. At this point the only way he's getting rid of Luono is buying him out.

The Luongo to Toronto BS will all start up again as soon as the SCF ends.

5.3 for him is fair, he is still an elite goalie. 1 bad season with all these distractions going on doesn't change that.

Its just the term + the penalties in the new CBA that are bad.

Love the guy and honestly feel bad for him. However his contract is atrocious and he even knows it.

Probably but hopefully their fan base gets a little more realistic now.

It's Roberto Luongo, not Varlamov.

I just a post, someone posted still a first rounder a prospect another prospect and a player but then again that doesn't represent the fanbase

Last night I looked at the thread on their board and there were multiple posters that thought Lupul + a second was reasonable.

I would have taken Lou for CMAC and a 4th. Give him 2 or 3 years then buy him out. At the same time I would've felt really bad for Reimer. It's a difficult situation but i think Nonis made the right decision at this time. If Reimer blows up in the playoffs, we still have the summer to pick up Lou. No one expected us to make the playoffs, let alone contend for the cup.

As I've said before, this shortened season is the perfect measuring stick to gauge our team. Getting into the playoffs just made this measuring stick longer. Let's see what we can do before trying to address unknowns.

If he is bought out i would easily do 7m for 3 years since we are going to have to outbid florida for him...would be timid to sign him longer than 3 or maybe 4 years max.

Give Reimer time to learn from him and they can split time after a season by the way Luongo has handled himself the last two years he would be a fantastic guy in the room and around Reimer too. Could be our next Eddie the Eagle...

Also having a steady, proven goalie for a few years would be a good thing for pending UFAs in the next few off seasons.

I would love to see Vancouver go into a tailspin - goalie related. And miss playoffs.

hard not to alledge luongo's contract was cap circumvention.

luongo was party to it, so hard to feel bad for the guy.

hopefully the new rules have put an end to cap circumventing contracts

I think you're very naive if you think a UFA Luongo would go that cheap.

If bought out Luongo would go to Florida for league minimum.

Yikes. Well atleast they are realizing the reality of the situation now I'd imagine. I remember many not believing how this wouldn't a trouble at all to move him.

I saw that Gilman presser - talk about a spin machine. I hate Gilman's smugness/arrogance especially for a GM who inherited Sedins/Keslar/Luongo etc.

Luongo: "My contract sucks"

Gilman: "He is just emo"

LOL

Didn't Dipietro say similar?

Also when do Tucker and Armstrong stop counting?

After the 13-14 season we should be relieved from their cap hit.
