Do you guys think Hertl can ever be as good as Anze Kopitar? Or a notch below.

No. Two notches.

People are starting to overrate Hertl and Nieto like crazy.

Yeah, no kidding. Kopitar is a top-10 player in the league. Hertl will never ever be that.

Frankly, I don't think it's too big a stretch to say he has a good chance to make the World Championship team. There are not going to be many NHL players this year and he looks like a much better 3rd/4th line choice than someone like Martin Růžička. And of course, Hadamczik obviously rates Hertl and he likes young players in general. Even politics may help him - the Czech hockey establishment needs to show that it pay offs for young players to stay in here while gaining professional experience, including international, rather than leave for the CHL.
I'm not saying he's a lock but it's entirely possible.

I still say Nieto turns out like Michalek. A solid 2nd line left wing with great speed and scoring ability, but streaky and soft.

Hertl I expect to turn out kind of like Ryan O'Rielly.

Nieto will be Setoguchi. A tweener. But we'll see.

Seto isn't soft though and I expect Nieto will be fairly soft. Michalek is probably a bit better than Seto, but I still think the comparison is fairly apt.

Er, not really similar players at all.

And Milan scored 35 goals in the NHL. I think he qualifies as a top-liner.

Michalek is much better than Seto. He's just injured all the time.

That season, yeah. Gomez scored how many points once?

I'm talking play styles, not exact production.

I couldn't really think of anyone better than O'Reilly off the top of my head. Someone who is not a terribly strong skater, but has good on ice vision, but not elite level talent.

It'll take him some time to bulk up enough to play his same game at the NHL level but Nieto absolutely does not play a soft game.

Okay, fine on Nieto.

But Hertl and O'Reilly is pretty off. O'Reilly is an elite defensive forward. He's also more of a playmaker. Hertl's a decent two-way player with the potential to be good-not-great. He's also much more physical than O'Reilly and uses his physicality well, and he's more of a Pavs 50-50 shooter-playmaker hybrid than a pure playmaker like O'Reilly.

I have a really hard time thinking of a good comp for Hertl.

Yeah, he had no issues with physical play last night on either end of the ice.

Well that's good to hear, and I guess 'soft' is the wrong word anyway. I just mean soft like Pavelski is soft. Not a big hitter, not a physical presence. Not like Kyle Wellwood soft.

Yah I guess, as i said, same problem, was trying to think of someone in that range. Coyle actually seems pretty similar oddly.

Hertl doesn't have Coyle's speed, Coyle doesn't have Hertl's hands or vision. Man, this kid is just a one of a kind player.

Nieto makes big hits, plays the body, and digs the puck out along the boards. Again, it'll take work to play that game at the NHL level, but as 210 said, he looked like a pro last night.

He's not going to be making big hits against NHLers.

Michalek was top 25 4 times, while being excellent defensively. I'd say he is a borderline 1st liner.

I think Hertl and Nieto have as good a shot at top 6 spots as anyone outside the top 30 or so prospects.

This whole page is why you don't compare players.

Not true.
