Martin Erat's name is being thrown around.

Weber probably won't be too happy if they are trading off pieces. The guy said he wants to win and for the organization to prove to him they want to win. Step 1 was signing him to big money, step 2 was paying for other talent, not trading it away.

Hasn't Erat been disappointing this year?

Best case scenario:

Tank for Mac. Then flip him and our 2014 1st+ for Weber.

Per Pierre LeBrun, the Caps have acquired Martin Erat and Michael Latta in exchange for Filip Forsberg....

Yeah Forsberg was a 1st rounder and considered one of the safest players in last years draft. Nashville and Buffalo got good values in their trades today.

Apparently the Wild and Montreal were in a bidding war for Pominville.

Montreal offered Beaulieu , eller a 1st and 2nd and buff went with the wilds offer.

Imagine what we could have gotten for a healthy briere. Id have settled for Beaulieu or beaulieu and a 2nd.

Holy crap. I'm pissed at that and I hate the Caps. Erat is ok and Latta appears to be maybe a mid level prospect. I would have traded a lot more for Forsberg. The guy was a top pick last year for crying out loud!

I have to admit, I'm pretty happy with the fact that the Flyers didn't make any off the wall trades today. The Mason trade could turn out to be half decent if he rediscovers his form (he is only 24, so there's lots of time for him to rebound). As for the rest of the trades today, wow, the Washington - Nashville deal is definitely a head scratcher. Minnesota also gave up a hefty reward for Pominville and Ottawa made out like bandits with regards to Bishop to Tampa Bay.

Glad it's all over and that Couturier, B. Schenn and Laughton are still Flyers property. Now, to the off season and rebuilding the defense!!!!

Pierre LeBrun said that Ottawa wanted Couturier for Bishop. Randy Miller wanted to give up more.

I loled
TB wanted Couts and Homer didn't want to pull the trigger per the guys at TSN.

The Washington Capitals acquired winger Martin Erat and a minor leaguer from the Nashville Predators for top prospect Filip Forsberg.

Erat, 31, is a left-handed shot who has played right wing. Coach Adam Oates could move him to left wing on the first line opposite the right-handed Alex Ovechkin.

Erat has two years left with an annual cap hit of $4.5 million. He has four goals and 17 assists in 36 games this season for the Predators.

Forsberg was the Caps’ No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft, No. 11 overall. He’s projected as a top-six winger in the NHL.

Quote:
This move signals general manager George McPhee’s desire to win now at the expense of the future.

“As players that’s our only priority is this year, right now and making the playoffs,” right wing Troy Brouwer said hours before the trade was announced.

“I hope to go all in because I don’t ever want to write off a season or anything like that,” defenseman Karl Alzner said.

I know I ***** about the Facebook group and how dumb some people are, but everyone is acting like the Mason deal is going to cripple our franchise because we traded a 3rd round pick. It's just like with the Phillies trade deadline: no one knows anything about our prospects until they're in trade rumors, then all of the sudden they're supposed to become the next superstars in the league.
