So... is Mason going to be here for the game, or do we have to bring up Boucher as the back up for tonight?

Cal Heeter was recalled. If he's not here, Neil Little will take warmups.

Little as our backup is ****ing SCARY. Seriously, I'm more afraid of him than Leighton...

better then reese strapping on the pads

seriously though how does that work? what exactly are the rules? i remember some college kids getting dressed as back-ups in the past but i don't remember anything like that before.

and what happends if both your goalies get an injury and are unable to play? is the game postponed or does another roster player take the position? these are all things i seldom think about so now that i have i'm really curious as to what the rules are.

There are provisions under the heading of one-day amateur tryout emergency contracts.

An example: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=550148

The reference I made earlier was when the Flyers' trainer dressed as a backup when Ken Wregget was injured during warmups.

They sign ATO's for the day until the real goaltender arrives.

Bryz pulled after 5 goals, down 5-4. Flyers score last minute and go into a SO and Cal robs Ryder, thus clinching the game.

Wow is your defensive lineup decimated by injuries. The fans still want to win and make the playoffs or "tank" at this point?

There are proponents to both sides of that discussion.

Evidently. Just like the arguments that the habs lost this deadline since they didn't trade...

So what is your take on the situation? Still have 13 games, 4 games back. Trying to catch the Islanders, whom you play twice or the rangers whom you play 1 more time. It isn't impossible by any means, but would it be worth it?

^ The Flyers surprised some with the two wins over the weekend against Boston and Washington. The dramatics of the Washington win excited and elevated their chances though it is still can be termed a longshot. By tomorrow night, after these two games, things could change again. The draft is enticing because of the highly touted prospects on the blue line and the team needs to strengthen its defense corps.

Also, Grossmann is not playing tonight.

Well the Flyers found a lot of success after they drafted JVR. Sometimes hitting rock bottom allows you the opportunity to take a good hard look at yourself.

Drafting him was never a reason for that success and we would have finished the same exact way with or without him in the lineup throughout his time here.
