The Jets are 3rd in the East with a .500 record.

It's starting to look like Washington will win that division though.

This continues to demonstrate how unfair divisional alignments and first place secondments are.

In the first place the Jets benefit, and obtain wins by playing as many games as they do against weak divisional opponents, secondly they benefit by getting no worse than a top 3 placing if they *win* their division. What a laugh.

8teams in the east have more pts than the Jets now. But jets will remain unless Caps continue to climb up. Its also a joke how easily it will be for the Caps to make the playoffs this year. They certainly don't deserve to be there either.

Did anyone actually think it was a good idea to name a 19 year old captain?

He obviously isn't the only problem but it's ridiculous to have a (now) 20 year old trying to lead that team. He isn't a Crosby or Toews.

Ovechkin has quietly moved into 10th in league scoring and tied for 3rd in goals. It was funny seeing how many people around these parts had written him off. The dude is still one of the most dynamic players in the league.

Pitkanen is done for the season as per Dreger. Out three months. Minimum.

More the case people were shocked how little prepared he was to start the season. He's been on fire after a notorious start.

The Caps are going to win the SE since nobody else seems to want the crown.

Hybrid icing comes in next season. You can pretty much bank on it. Maybe even for the playoffs.

Makes sense, but if you watch the play, it's weird, I don't think Brouwer touches him, he just forgets where the boards are.

Tough for him and the Canes though.

Here's the video, weird play.

Well he was in a race for the puck and obviously thought he could stop quicker than he was actually able. Perhaps there was something with the ice in that area too.

But the play doesn't really matter. Horrific injuries like that, which tend to show up on American sports highlight of the night packages, that also have easy solutions, tend to get solved quickly. Bettman won't watch the mothers of a young American hockey fans seeing that and forbidding their kids from playing/watching the game.

No question and I'm sure it will, but as far as "horrific" injuries, not much is going to register for a few months after the Kevin Ware thing, yikes that was truly horrifying.

He is certainly... enigmatic. But when he's going he is just something else. One of the best goal scorers we've seen in 20 years.

He's 5th in goals for since 2000-01. Pretty crazy when you consider he didn't enter the league until 2005-06 haha. Everyone else in the top 10 has 200-300 more games played then him

Ovechkin's slow start could be attributed to his switch from LW to RW. I wouldn't bet on him scoring 50+ goals again, but he should be capable of 40+ goals per season for at least the next few years.
