Yanks are getting Vernon Wells from the Angels.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?...s_mlb&c_id=mlb

Looks like Anaheim is gonna eat alot of the salary though. i used to love Vernon when he was a blue jay, but he really let his game go when he got the big contract. Really nice guy, but strikes out too much and really doesnt have much left in the tank offensively and certainly defensively IMO, but he's at least worth a solid chance. never know, he could get a serious second wind like Ichiro and this could look great for the Yankees

Why on earth would the Angels do the Yankees a favor? Unless they're brazen enough to think the Yankees aren't going to be a contender anyway and just want some money relief considering all the other FA dollars they've shelled out the last two years.

Cashman can be very convincing, I guess. Supposedly the return is going to be fairly minimal too, a middling prospect.

Verlander gets a 7yr $180m extension

Posey gets a 9yr $167m extension

Yanks cut Juan Rivera and will go forward with Overbay as the 1Bmen to start the year

You'll really love watching him play on the Jays next season.

I have never been less excited for the start of a baseball season then today, and for good reason. All the likable parts of the team are either on the DL or were allowed to walk. What a stinker the Yanks laid today too. Woof. Going to be a long long summer.

I saw that pic of the opening day lineup. Good GOD I wanted it to be a terrible April Fool's Joke. It wasn't though.

That is an ugly lineup, but as always, I will worry about the Yankees only after the Devils' season is done.

What a way for Yu Darvish to lose a perfect game, two outs in the ninth giving up a comebacker throught the box.

gotta feel for the guy, almost gets historic on opening day. still a great pitcher, seems to be bucking the trend of high end Japanese pitchers brought to the states

Who the hell is left that is healthy on that god damn team? UGH it is beyond depressing looking at the Yanks roster right now. I can't even.
